No, if the sugar level is > 6.5 it is considered diabetic and unable to get medical insurance.

Of course carafei agent will say yes amd dont declare it, but when a claim arises for diabetic related complications, they disappear faster than a speeding bullet.

What if subsequently manages to control and bring down the sugar level.

For accurate results it is always required to fast at least 8-10 hours for blood test.

Pregnancy may cause the sugar level to increase and if it does increase above normal, it is not a good time to apply.

After the pregnancy another test may be needed to show that the level has returned to normal, otherwise it is considered diabetic.

so a pregnant women can't get insurance?

diabetes - blood sugar and weight not important?

But I thanked him anyway, for reminding me not to waste time on people who don't appreciate help.

See ya!

I am uncertain as to how the underwriter will view this case cos i have yet to encounter any cases where the client is able to become non-diabetic.

Well there are cases where the client claim that they did not fast for the blood test but when ask to redo the test with fasting they kept quiet. hmm.gif

sorry but it is not 30 minutes after

it is SOON after meal. Reason - to reduce side effects - which is ? - nausea/vomiting/DIARRHEA.

You can check product information leaflet to confirm.

its time to change your lifestyle .. i know you said your chubby thats mean you are not physically active in sport or any outdoor activity. So this will be very hard for you to suddenly change . From meals (the hardest part) and physical activity but you have no choice . So start immediately write down you plans ,activity and start doing it. For you medical condition please go check with your doctor or get another opinion asking US in forum will only do more harm than good(mentally).

nowadays insurance company start to order HBA1c already and not reliant solely on Fasting blood sugar. Customers can always cheat on their Fasting blood sugar, but they can't cheat with HBA1c.

Im a Type 2 diabetic, not born with it but both my parents side had diabetic in all family members & some died due to that very long time ago, ever since i was a kid i do not love sweet stuff, i still end up getting it. anyway my sugar lvl is around 6-8, taking 500gm glucophage (metformin) once a day only in the morning, but i skip sometimes when im lazy lol. I manage to stay on 6-8 without taking med for 2 years for my personal reason (do not follow my steps on skipping)

Your blood sugar is actually very high at 14, my dad is at 9-12 his taking insulin once a day & 850gm 1 tablet morning & night, after medication his hovering around 7-8 if he "curi makan". So far none of us had diarrhea issues but to be fair my dad had be taking the medication since his 20s, only started insulin maybe in this last 2 years, his now near 70.

You need to start a new strict diet plan, it wont be too extreme but if you could follow this you would lose weight while at it.

- Try to stop taking white rice or rice of anytype, i know ppl would usually go for brown rice but i would skip rice all together
- No carbonated drinks (coke/100+/7up) even for fast food combo choose drinking/mineral water
- Eat 60-70% full not too full, do not skip meal.
- Never eat near sleep time
- Skip everything thats sweet (chocolate/ice cream) apart from fruits, even for drinks like milo, horlics, sirap ice, teh ice & etc etc, if you had to then choose kosong.
- Do not buy products with less sweet, or artificial sweetening
- Take more soup based food, mee/kueh teow/meehoon goreng those to replace your normal rice meal
- try to sweat more from work/exercise

After doing this awhile you would probably get used to it, its hard to begin with but most diabetics patient that could control their diet had to go thru this stage. getting diabetics this early in age means you will have to be on medication for at least another 30-40 years, you had to get things under control fast else it might damage your kidney or other parts of your body (eye, leg, hand)

Anyway here is a good news for you, you can start a fun diet plan like how i do to me & my dad. Mon-Sat no rice, Sun (curi makan day) tongue.gif, but for you i would not suggest this plan yet but try 2 weeks once to start? once you could get it down below 9-10 then you can try my "fun plan".

keep trying dont lose hope! diabetic isnt the end of day. (Please buy your self a glucose meter, so you know which food you need to avoid)

Edit:-

This is the info i get from searching
Glucophage (Metformin) is a very effective medicine to lower blood sugar and the risk of complications and death from diabetes, but it's likely to cause diarrhea for the first few weeks.

Interesting, mind if i ask what was the sugar level before and after you started the drink?

Might suggest to my clients

Fasting blood sugar test showed reading above 7 before I start the remedy if I still remember correctly. I ran the test for the employment medical check-up. After a week of repeat checkup to to confirm, my blood sugar level went down to normal level but I don't remember the exact figure. Might need to ask the recruiter for the letter from the doctor to get the exact figure.

Have you checked HBA1c level for a more accurate reading of your sugar control? Fasting blood sugar is not a good indicator for blood sugar control.

Cost about RM40-60 at private lab.

a few days ago doctor say i am diabetic.
i am not shocked, because my family are diabetic.
my mum was diabetic when pregnant with me. - is it true because of this my chances of being diabetic is higher?
doctor say my sugar is very high. like super high. now go down already but still in 11 to 14 range.

at first when he found out high sugar, first few days he keep on inject insulin when my sugar is higher than 14.
so now no more insulin because below 14. so he gave me 850mg metformin 2 times a day for 2 weeks. then 3 times a day for like 2 to 3 months.

i know what i am getting into and well aware what is going to happen.
but i want to understand what is going on with my body right now. i read here and there but i cannot understand a few issues.

i am supposed to be type 2 diabetis. the doctor didn't explain much. asked the diabetic nurse to coach me.
she say because i whacked too much sugar, so now my pancreas is damaged. cannot produce insulin. so need to cut sugar and eat medicine.

i don't understand, so now is my pancreas damaged and cannot produce as much insulin or am i insulin resistant like what they wrote in medical website?
or cannot determine whether my pancreas is doing fine or just that my cells becoming insulin resistant? you just can't tell?

why am i prescribed metformin? what does it really do? from what i can recall it is supposed to make my cells more sensitive towards insulin and make me produce less excess insulin into my blood stream? i need an answer.

why do they need to treat me like a chronic patient?
"unfortunately, you have to live with it now"
"there's no cure, it is a chronic disease, but you still can control it with healthy lifestyle"

now the problem now is, that metformin is giving me terrible diarrhea.
it happens for a few days already. yesterday no pass motion. i don't know why, but today..

i shit in my pants on my way to work. i cannot control my bowel movements at all. when i need to go, i cannot tahan.
i take public transport to work. i already reached office today but took a cab back home because i shit in my pants.

this week i shit in my pants for 5th time already. now i am having problem getting to work.
i am thinking to quit my job now due to long travelling distance in the morning.

before i take this metformin, i don't feel sick at all. i can run and jump. but this medicine is making me sick and taking a lot of MC this week.
please share your experience with me because i am getting depressed right now.

seriously considering quitting my job and wear adult diapers.

There is a lot of information, must have the patient to learn and practice, you will see positive results or negative results in mid and long term.

I didn't see all the posts above, I guess another point you need to take care is low sugar level.

Your family are diabetic because your family eat the same food . If you want to heal your diabetes , you must change your lifestyle . Stop eating process food like roti canai , fried animal products like KFC , soda , french fries , cookies etc . Try drinking lots of plain water regularly . Diabetes is dangerous because it effects 3 things , your vision , your kidney and your limbs like your legs . There are many doctors who are experts in diabetes and one of the best is Dr Neal Barnard . You can watch many of his diabetes videos in Youtube . I also have a friend who's having diabetes but he just refused changing his diet . Nothing much I can do for people who don't want to change .

Dr Barnard method is simple . Stop eating all animal products like meat , fish , chicken , eggs , milk and cheese .
