Hi Guys, im looking for a table-top sized tripod, any recommendation?
Table-top sized as in like ManfrottoPIXI EVO<< Anybody used before? Wanted to buy but saw so many bad reviews about the screw head, now scare scare.
Have been eyeing on cambofoto tripod, but its China brand, doubt it's quality. But will still buy if any sifu recommend it.
Pedco UltraPod II Lightweight Camera Tripod<< Any1 used this before, looks compact but dont know if it will suit my need or not. confused.gif

What i need from my tripod is:
Max Load 1.1kg (i have light setup: D100+ wide angle lens tongue.gif )
Ability to point straight upwards 90degrees (i do astrophotography)
Height is not an issue here as i will be placing it on bench/balcony, etc.
Stability, i do not want my somewhat imbalanced setup to topple (D100 + wide angle lens).
And a RM250 budget. Prefer to stay below 250, unless its a good quality product.

Its best if the thing is small and made out of durable plastic as i need to hand-carry it on-board, if possible.

Any recommendation? drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif

I have the Manfrotto Pixi Evo. I use it with my Olympus OM-D EM5II. The body isn't that heavy but the lens I use is 12-40mm f2.8 which is heavy relative to my camera format.

So far I am pleased with it. Have been with me during my last 2 trips. No problem carrying it on board a plane. I fixed a quick release plate and made it easy should I need to go without the tripod.

As for turning it upwards, I think it is possible but I reckon you need to find the correct spot. There isn't much room to work with.

Have only been questioned once before. The officer(In Qatar airpot) in charge asked me "Did you bring a tripod?" I just said yes. No further questions. They didn't even touch my bag at all.

I think its because of the Steel quick release clamp attached to the tripod and not the tripod itself.

cos in their mind, tripods are all long.
if u read around u will find enough ppl who have carried tripods onto airasia flights...as long can fit into the hand carry luggage.

i got a big tripod that stands 1.5 feet at its smallest, so i dare notbring that in, if smaller metal ones are okay, then i might just get a small metal one then.
the m5 mini looks good but cant find it anywhere, except ebay / amazon.

looking to get a chinese knock-off cambofoto tripod, looks a bit bulkier

i guess probably the price of fotopro has gone up too much.
i bought my m5 mini locally from mitmivec in dsara uptown about 5 or 6yrs back for rm250... u can try calling him and see if he has any old stock lying around... can find his number in garage sales somewhere.
anyway i see the retail price is now usd115...zzz.

the fotopro distro also used to have a office in ss2... now probably dissappeared already.

checked out that cambofoto... looks really similar... except the fotopro doesn't have that bubble level... not a deal breaker anyway...
but its much cheaper...hmm...dunno how its quality is like tho... but maybe for all u know from same factory.

Well i just ordered the cambofoto tripod, its also a rip-off of a branded tripod i couldnt remember which one.
Saw one lixetu tripod, totally a chinese rip-off of fotopro tripod, so similar, however i don't like the leg angle lock mechanism, probably a type of lock where you push up the sliding button and a rubberize grip contacts with the top metal part and it just holds everything there, its gone for good when the button got lose someday in the future.

And ya probably from the same factory. I know chinese factories that manufactures original branded stuff also manufactures their own product that are same in design. hmm.gif
