I've tried my friend's big baby which he bought in Australia and it sounded like crap (comparable to a standard Yahama 400 series) whilst I tried another one in the UK and it sounded ok for a RM2k guitar.
that happens to almost any other acoustic guitars. acoustic guitars tend to vary alot more as compared to electrics. also depends on how well the owner keeps it. also for your case, the humidity and weather in 2 diff countries is enough to 'shape' the way the wood response.
