no donors, I ordered it myself. previous gpu was gtx780m, sold it to a friend.

Depends on what version your Mac's using. Yosemite n ElCap just plug n play. On Sierra you have to do some mod in the display policy plist.

Just updated with Dell 4K Ultrasharp UP3216Q last week.

- I did not flash the card, just edit the Apple's displayconfig.plist file. the MXM was OEM for Dell Alienware laptops
- Yes I did lose the initial boot screen and no brightness control
- the GTX980M's power consumption are very low, no overheating nor noisy fan problem
