Hello everyone, it's been a really long time since I posted something.

I need some help troubleshooting a problem I have with my zoom g1xon multi-effects processor.
Well, the problem is actually using earphones with it.
To use earphones with it, I have to use a 3.5mm jack to 1/4 inch jack adapter. I used both a mono and stereo adapter
and found that using the mono jack gives me a nice clear sound (like how it's supposed to), but is only audible through
the left earphone/channel. With the stereo adapter however, I get to hear it from both earphones/channels but the sound
quality is horrible. Sounds fuzzy, slightly distorted on a fully clean patch, and extremely soft.

What is the problem? I remember having the supposed sound when I played with earphones 2 years back, but can't remember
if I used a mono or stereo adapter.

I tried with different earphones and using my roland cube amp with the adapter and earphones, still the same results.

Is it because of the adapter?

yea sounds like the adapter not making proper contact with either side.
try twisting it around etc or clean it.

Tried cleaning and twisting to "find the spot" but still the same. Perhaps I need to get another adapter?

I just got this one and it was already like that (it's not old) confused.gif

That mfx only has 1 output right? Probably problem come from the mfx jack itself smile.gif or try some default preset patch if it has mono/stereo function

Yes only 1 output. I tried to check but theres nowhere in the pedal that allows me to select mono/stereo..

Is it because its dusty/dirty in the pedal's jack?

Is straight setup guitar>g1xon>roland cube amp with proper cable sounds ok? if it is, maybe your 1/4 stereo jack converter got some issue smile.gif

Try to use your headphones/adapter in another sound source, just to isolate if it's really an adapter problem.

Unfortunately I don't have any other audio source that needs the adapter to be used...

*UPDATE* Went to the shop I got the adapter from to exchange it. Still the same issue & I feel it is the adapter problem, not my guitar/amp/pedal. I bought it from a electrical store for RM2.50, will a 10-20 ringgit one make a difference?

I don't think I know anyone that has a headphone with a proper 1/4 jack.. Yeah that's where I got mine from too.

Should I buy a gold plated one from Lazada?

u still dunno whether its ur effects jack problem or not also.
gold plated mostly just prevents long term corrosion only.

Daiso actually sells gold plated adapter. Works pretty well for me and very durable also.

Damn, if only you responded earlier! Placed my order from Lazada on the 10th of February. Just received them today and hopefully they are good.

But wow! I didn't know that Daiso sells them too....

*UPDATE* Received x2 gold plated adapters from Lazada, 1 of them works fine and finally able to get the right clean signal. Great that I can finally play with earphones but still very curious why only 1 of them works. What is with these adapters? Or is it just my multi fx?

I've not.. no one actually told me to try that.

It doesn't seem like the problem is the contact between the 6.3mm jack into the fx.. seems more like the earphone into 3.5mm female jack.

With the adapter that works I actually have to fiddle the earphone jack around slightly to get a clean sound.

Should I use contact cleaner?
