Ooh! You can unlock the rank games by lvl 10.
I was scared to try out the rank ones but since everyone starts from below, you should try it out.
It is way more fun compared to turf war when you get a hang of it.
If you have other friends playing the same game, you can participate in the same Turf War.
Which version is your splatoon 2? Mine is Japan version

They usually randomize the server so that you encounter lotsa players from everywhere but not all JP names are Japan players.
I have lotsa friends from NA or EU Version using JP names
You're only bound to EU version players when the Splatfest is open according to region and not worldwide.
