I have this issue too for my Retina MBP 15 2012, I think its something to do with where you store your mbp. Might be temperature or humidity that wear down the rubber gasket over time. I could be wrong tho.

I put it on computer table at ground floor wor. Most of the timr in aircond room except during night time. Also can wear off so fast?Less than one year i already notice the rubber mark. I dont bother it coz i thought it is normal.

Is the battery also replaced under the keyboard replacement program foc? Saw some tear down guide that it requires to almost disassemble the whole MacBook pro to access the keyboard.

And is it the updated version of keyboard or just the same like what it came with? Just curious as I’m also sending in mine soon.

Updated version , feels better

All foc , because for my unit the battery also got recall

But the girl there told me that to replace the battery must replace the keyboard also or vice verse. Forgotten dy.

Could probably due to SST. Other Apple products have seen the price adjustment as well during this weekend.

Sent my Macbook Pro 13” tb for keyboard replacement yesterday at MacCity Aeon Cheras Selatan, smooth experience. Made an appointment with Apple support live chat. The first time I chatted with them was more than a week ago, did some diagnostics to exclude software issue, but they can only make appointment for a week prior, so they told me to make appointment at a later date closer to when I’m free. The second time I tried to make appointment, I couldn’t access the live chat from my case ID, I also couldn’t access the live chat, because my warranty is over (makes me wonder how I was able to access it the first time hmm.gif ).

Anyway, I clicked the “exclusion” part and “purchased software problem” (can’t recall exactly, but something along the line like this). And managed to get the Apple advisor connected, told them my case ID and he was really helpful and made the appointment for me. So fyi, if you can’t get to Apple support, try it this way.

The AASP staff told me they will change the top case, and will likely be the same model of keyboard. Not sure if the battery will be changed, forgot to ask him. Takes about 1-2 weeks, they don’t stock any parts, after full diagnostics only order the parts from Apple so the turnaround time will be longer.

Another interesting thing he told me was, the screen gasket can’t be changed by itself from Apple, it only comes with display and lid as a whole unit (expected). He noticed some finger smudges on my screen and took a microfibre cloth to clean it to make sure it wasn’t a coating failure. He said if the coating fails, Apple will honour a free replacement (whole display and lid) once for this issue. Not sure if it’s true, but he works there and surely knows more than I do.

Hope this helps the others in the process of getting their keyboard replacement.

You may checkout Aukey CB-C48. Support Power Delivery so you don’t have to worry charger scratch your Macbook Pro. And you still can use the ports while charging.

My current one isn’t a direct hub (if you meant the kind that fits directly on the side), but thought I’d throw this in anyway:

https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/bhxEOD4M

So far so good. It goes under the MBP for me.

My MBP TB warranty is till 7th Oct, contemplating whether I should buy the AppleCare to extend the warranty another 2 years.

Checked at Machines website, it is selling for Rm895, any other places to get it a lower price?

Thanks
