Yes, it is very durable. My first pair i wore it for 4+ years and the tread still got 75%. Now my 2nd pair already near 2 years. At first u will feel uncomfortable and a bit of hotness due to the cork, but after awhile it will be very comfortable and you wont go for other type of slippers. Trust me, it worth every penny of it.

First pair 6 years, 2nd pair 3rd.
Both still wearable.

I owned 5 pairs of them. They are very durable, and they are meant for indoor. You can of course wear it anywhere you like, even go diving with it. Your money, your sandals. That thing is not designed for outdoor due to the non-existence cushioning and the material used. I lived in where it is made for more than a decade. and yes, there are sandals deigned for indoor and outdoor.

Mine tahan for 7-8 years liao!!!
one way to take care of this slipper is avoid getting it wet, that would spoil the birkie
treat ur birkie like a nice leather shoe but in a casual wear
flipflop r more for the wetmarket, beach and etc
just like ur clothes, u need a pair of flipflop for different occasion and birkie for another different occasion
NEVER CHOOSE TO WEAR BIRKIE WHEN IT IS RAINING OR WHEN U KNOW IT WILL MOST LIKELY GET WET
mine lasted for 7-8 years and counting. the soles grip is still good

i'm those who don't wear slipper or sandal since i was in secondary school. Solely shoes. I have been doing this for the past 10years.
but ever since i tried on birkenstock for the past 2 years, now i'm wearing it for most of the time/ocassion. Trust me, it is expensive but worth every penny of it.
Buy for the comfort not just bcoz it is birkenstock.
My friend said he wear one day only at the inside already turn black, bcs he sweats a lot? True
If this happens what to do? Once it turn black cannot become brown back??
