Recently, lots of website got infested with trojan which can download by itself by just open the website. Is there anyway to block any auto download without installing all kinds of program such as Zonealarm? I already got Avast but it can't block the download and only gives me the warning after the download is complete and trojan prepare to execute. I have to clean of the mess mysef mad.gif

Note: Ad blocker by MSN also can't stop the auto download.

What Browser do you use? This answer spills all info about the website. Cheers!

IE. No wonder. A few tips for you. Disable ActiveX. If you don't mind, I will not insist, but do try out other Browsers like FireFox or Opera or etc. They are relatively safer in the sense where they rarely or in fact never use ActiveX.

Another Hint, Disable Flash Objects and Java Scripts AND/OR Java Applets if you are really paranoid.

Automated download of malware is NOT a new issue. Has been around for quite some time. Good Luck and Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, my office is using Firefox 2.0, it is safer, but the web display sometimes all scramble up, especially at chinese web site running with Java or actionscript. At home, I mostly use back IE.
I normally browse at regular site, just 3 days, a safe site for years (about games review, walkthough, cheats) got infected with trojan Win32:Goldun-HB, the avast stop it from execution and deleted. I thought it was safe but pc seems weird with missing quick task bar. Finally yesterday, avast detect another trojan executing by just log online. I need to revert back the registry for cleaning for safety. An annoying step where I have to re-install certain files again doh.gif
it would be nice, if IE at least telling us certain files is going to be downloaded from the site and let us decide it is save or not to download it, not just auto download and let AV to detect which will be too late sweat.gif

Now that is the trick.

People are lazy OR ignorant/naive/(stupid, no offense!). M$ decided to make it "user-friendly" (on the expense of security) by introducing the nasty ActiveX Technology. Thus, you have rubbish going into your computer without your consent. (What an infringement of human right!. Joking!)

Since you have Trojans lurking around, you ought to go get 1 round of Kaspersky Online Scan to make sure your computer is really clean. It will take a while (I heard there are cases of almost 12 hours+ sweat.gif), but it is very worth it. At least you know whether your computer is pest free, or not.

To safeguard yourself, the site might not be as safe as we think. So, go get a copy of Mcafee Site Advisor. It's Free not to say.

Hope your problem clears. Cheers!
