other games;
- some SRPGs from Idea Factory (one even have as Asian/Chinese release)
- Hudson games like Bomberman: Act Zero, Tengai Makyou: Ziria
- ....... lots more obscure/niche games

/
erm, most of them are quirky jpn games, not appealing to everybody. even if they release asian versions, they wont sell well. but sometimes, p-a offer discounts on them or they reprint cheaper platinum versions rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
NTSC/J Jpn platinum budget rerelease goes at ~¥ 3,000

do note a US/EU version doesn't guarantee NTSC/J Asian 360s can play them. still have to wait for region-lock confirmation.

/
also would like to give credit to MS SEAsia game publishing arm. they co-published oblivion, table tennis, [eM] (and more?) for the SEAsian markets rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

I show very little respect for Bandai Namco....they sell utter crud like Gundam based on the merit that its based on a popular TV show....but dang....Earth Defense Force looks so kick ass!!

IMHO

I agree and disagree with you, NamcoBandai is a good publisher and they have produced some memorable titles like Soul Calibur, Ace ofCombat, Tekken series, RRacer,Xenosaga trilogy,.hack series, Katamari DAmacy and tales series ...but being that big they also released some crappy ones too.

I personally dislike the Gundam games, but as you can see they game sells very well in Japan thus the long list of Gundam games...but the latest Gundam ( Musou ) outing look promising and Famitsu gave a very high score for it...

Just like malaysia cinema, they do it because it sells - at the end of the day its all about $ncents

Gundam Musou.. damn I hate these Musou games, I'll only be impressed by it if every one of those hundreds of enemies you're fighting has the potential to KILL you instead of just standing around blocking the view of your characther.

Super Robot Taisen will never EVER be released in English cause of the state of licensing of the characthers over in the US.

Bomberman : Act Zero, *puke* we're better off without such filth in our collection.

The Square Enix game was set for a US release but no details at the moment. Oneechanbara was rumoured to be Americanised in May but once again, just hear say.

Famitsu will give ANYTHING JAPANESE a high mark....which is why i hate that particular magazine...but...
Hey i have nothing against Namco...its that BANDAI part i have trouble with...Namco can justify its ends with Tekken and Soul Calibur but Bandai....just makes some rotten games that will drive people insane...Many if not all their games are based on ANIME(...ick) Zatch Bell, Inuyasha...etc....no real quality involved in their games...but yeah I HAVE to give THEM the benefit of the doubt...but they usually screw it up...

And for those anime fans who are offended at what i say.....im sorry...its just my thoughts....

haha, actually i wanted to start a games thread abt trusty bell/eternal sonata since its coming soon.

then i realized it'll be most probably be too expensive for my budget sweat.gif sweat.gif asian game prices really spoilt me tongue.gif tongue.gif

also i was reminded of a little discussion abt region-lock, jpn games, english support and asian gamers the other day, so i thought might as well start a topic on JPN imports.

do keep this thread alive with discussion, if interests/demand are too big, open an individual/seperate games thread. maybe we can even send requests to Djinn to rent out certain JPN imports? icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

hahahaha..i got to agree with the B grade games u mention above...not sure how they justify making these games?

I've been playing Japanese import for years now due to localization for JAP game is rare ( used to be ...but not anymore )...unless u have a hit game or they have a backing from a big publisher...then again-there are still crappy game being localised!!

Some Japanese games are good but i have to mention this....the reason why a majority of Japanese developers make turd games is because they only make it for the JAPANESE PUBLIC and no one else....an executive from Capcom criticized this...also they are quite LAZEE...they make turd games based on animes which have a million turd game loving fans come crashing through the doors of a videogame store...

Im not anti japanese at all.....but it seems that they are hardly ever trying....

And Yes i know there are exceptions this like Nintendo , Capcom , NAMCO(not bandai). Konami....etc... smile.gif
