My advice. Don't keep ur important copy of documents, pictures and video mainly on hard drives and phone. And even some cheap memory cards.
The pain quite bad if that happens. I must say
Especially if u using those backup for important purposes

Like my friend. A photographer. His 1tb crashed and leave without client copies. Pls imagine how bad it it

RAID is just prolonging failure a litter bit longer / buy time for data to be moving to safer place when h.disk failure detectd. It will be worse if the raid is not properly monitor.

Offline storage is a better approach.
