I set to India 2 weeks ago , and get updated to 8.1.6.0.. yup , I also just uninstall the India applications. I think the latest 8.2.1.0 rom got some problem , so Xiaomi pull out for now.

Xiaomi maybe pull back to do some minor change of coding. Anyway, those who had already updated manually to 8.2.1.0 will be corrected in next OTA update. Unknown bug can mean anything which may not be able to detect by end user , only their programmers know.

Top priority is given to India cos it's the biggest market outside China. It take time to update as Xiaomi sold a few million redmi note 3 there. Other countries will have to wait. That why when you set the region to India , you get immediate update. The same scenario with Mi Max as well.
