i think theres must be some bug found by beta tester hence the hold
i leave beta route last year coz of this sometime the bug really annoying that the privilege of having the latest rom is not worth it

Not sure can detect better battery life vs 8.1.1.
But. Smoothness I can assure u. It's better than the 8.1.1
