Can you install Ampere and check the amperage when you're charging with the original charger? Before this I can charge up to 1000mA at around 40% capacity no problem.

QUOTE(weikee @ Dec 23 2017, 12:33 PM) For nitrogen Kernel : Yeah I have no idea what kernels are.Below 80%, the charging can reach up to 2050mAh, between 80%-90% is around 1800-1000mAh, and after 90% it slow down to 800-300mAh. I remember Miui Beta/ developer also perform similar. For Radon Kernel : Below 80%, the charging can reach up to 2500mAh, the other status remain similar. Seems that this replacement usb board is reducing the charging current. |

Feel quite snappy with miui9. Right after update everything smooth like new clean phone but after a few hours usage it's not as snappy but it feels snappier than before. App animations feel like iOS ish though. Not a big fan.

I don't have battery issue, or maybe I just don't use my phone heavily. However I noticed when I clear running apps it doesn't show the free memory anymore. That sucks.

I think one of these days I'm just gonna get a different phone. Found out some of my colleagues are also using Digi but they're not affected by reception problems like I do when we go lunch somewhere basement or between tall buildings, inside thick wall buildings etc. Can't even get reception and internet when I'm at TBS station, can't call Uber/Grab.
This is a nice phone, but its a cheap phone. Nice cheap phone and I don't really expect much from it anymore. |

Now updating to what firmware i don't know, just got the notification.
Weird thing is when I opened the update app it shows no update, but when I tap on the update notification it shows the update. It might be because updates only to certain people at certain time, but come on man, don't make it look like its buggy. Last night went to look for new house and so many places no signal when my friend's phone got signal. Why la xiaomi why. |

Watch disassembly videos on youtube, then you can gauge yourself how easy or hard it is for you to do. Everyone has different levels of things they're comfortable to do, if you're uncomfortable to do it then can send to shop or service center.
I had the USB not working problem and at first scared to do too since I worry it involves desoldering/soldering SMD components. The videos show changing the USB board straightforward. Part was like, I think below RM20. Works fine until today. This was maybe 2 months ago. |

Today on the first day of raya my RN3 charging port stopped working for the second time. Previously I've repaired it with a part from Lazada.
I think I need a new better phone. |

I'm in my kampung right now and I did bring it to a shop for repairs. I told them that I've replaced the USB board previously. They took it apart and the guy said the board is fine so it must be something on the main board (which probably means either the diode or the battery). So I decided I won't be repairing it for now because he said it'll be maybe a hundred plus. Who knows how much that number will climb once they started to stuff in their pokey bits.
Redmi Note 5 is tempting but I've been seeing the Asus Max Pro M1 reviews and it looks quite nice. Kinda want to try a different brand. |

Well i took it apart and found out the repair shop only put back 2 of 5 screws form the bottom pcb. After playing with the connectors and reconnecting, i tried connecting to the powerbank. It flashes intermittently like the phone is pulling power from the powerbank, but the charging notification light on the phone isn't on. Tried turning it on and it died again, the battery indicator on screen doesn't show charging.
Afterwards the powerbank doesn't flash intermittently like its charging the phone anymore. I'm gonna try weikee's suggestion and disconnect the battery overnight. |

After sent my RN3 to service center they confirmed the main board is faulty. Replacing it will be around RM5++ so I told them cancel no need. I'll just pay the diagnosis labour fee.
I bought a Vivo X21 instead. Feels a lot better than RN3, but one is a flagship and the other is a almost 3 year old budget phone its not a fair comparison. Anyone with Digi postpaid should check out their RM1 phone offer. Postpaid users longer than 1 year can get the RM1 phones with no upfront charge with RM190/mo plan. |
