Using GPS is FOC. However the maps aren't. smile.gif At least most maps aren't. tongue.gif

You need both the maps and a receiver to use GPS. The Nokia N95 and 6110 Navigator are examples of phones with built in GPS receivers.

Battery life, not sure yet.

Today I switched on BT and also GPS and the drain on the battery is quite heavy.

Will do more tests before I can conclude how good is the battery life.

Hi, some question regarding the GPS and charges. What do you mean by use GPS is FOC but not the maps? i tot map is loaded once you kick into ur GPS???

Do i need to pay if i browse Malaysia map? If needs to pay, pay to service provider like Maxis or? Do i need to register for it? Sorry, i am too noob in GPS but going to buy this phone. Targeted it since Barcelona launch on March 2007. Hhahaha!! finally it is out.

well... when u buy the phone it wont be pre-loaded with all the map in the world. maybe KL, singapore, blah blah blah.
but when u wan the map for London, u need to buy the map through some portal and load it into ur phone. then only the map will appear.
once loaded the map, GPS usage should be free like wat sonyclie said smile.gif

no need to pay maxis anything coz GPS is not provided by maxis if i'm not wrong

Hi SystemWorks, I bought my Navigator Black last week. It costs RM1650.00. To me and my son the Black color one is not only cheaper than the white color one, the phone is damn cooool. According to my son, the White color one looks too feminine or girlish.

Can anyone help by showing me how to install PC Suite in my DELL Notebook and then sync with the Navi? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

i bought avaxx set last week..
so far it works perfectly.
the gps is quick to locate your location...(less than 1 min)
even when i'm in my room with curtain closed...i could get signal from satellite and locate where i am.

the avaxx set comes with route66 kl maps and asia maps pre installed with navigation.
route66 maps which is the default one is useless outside of KL city centre though.
most of the time i use asia maps...it covers more areas.

Route66's default Malaysia and Singapore maps are free.

But the Malaysia maps only covers KL, not even PJ. So unless you always travel in KL city centre, the map is useless. Like faizalmzain mentioned, for travelling outside of KL, use NAVFone by Agis, which most people here call Asia maps.

What problems did you face when installing your PC Suite?

I just popped in the CD, and followed the instructions and successfully installed the PC Suite. I now sync my 6110 Navi every night. smile.gif

Somehow I don't like the Black 6110 Navi, that's why I took the white. Or maybe I have a fetish for White phones. tongue.gif

My problem was that I d/l the PC Suite from Nokia Europe website. When it came to the part requesting to hook up the USB cable, I did and somehow it couldn't read. Then I used the CD which came with the phone to install, everything went smooothly. Now no problem.
The white color model costs a bit more. 1GB Sandisk microSD costs only RM50. Am not buying one now as I forsee the price for the 2GB which currently costs RM110, will drop soon. Then maybe I'll buy the 2GB.

Cool that your problem is solved. thumbup.gif

Just curious, where did you get your Black 6110 Navigator?

Yours seem to be the cheapest I've heard so far.
