My phone also can detect DiGi 3G, but cannot connect. Sometimes connected no line. doh.gif
*
of course you can't because existing users are not allowed to have 3G. Only those sim cards bundled with the packages during the soft launch will be 3G enabled smile.gif

Guys, I might be subscribing to DiGi EDGE because I'm a D' Campus user and I only need to pay RM 30 for one month unlimited usage. I've a few questions here and hoping someone could help to answer them. notworthy.gif

I tried slotting in my DiGi SIM card and my area has full coverage of EDGE. So the maximum speed I can get? What about torrent? Can my MSN Messenger be connected using it? How about images or files uploading?

I'm sick of Celcom broadband. Expensive but unreliable. The upload speed is miserably little thus it makes me difficult to post on LYN and upload any images or attachments to my e-mail.

I'm hoping for positive outcome on DiGi EDGE. I don't mind slower speed but at least I know it is stable.

Thanks for reading and waiting for replies. biggrin.gif
*
Maximum speed it depends, can be as high as 26KB/sec downloads wink.gif Avg expect around 150kbps to 200kbps (also depends)

MSN messenger is not a problem. As for images and file uploading, it'll be slow but the speed is bearable. Just make sure to pray that you don't get any idle timeouts (it happens at times depending)

can digi bb use in shah alam area ?
*
EDGE can, for DiGi's 3.5G, Setia Alam

Thanks for the reply. smile.gif
Is there any way to counter idle timeouts?
*
It depends, it can be the weak network signals (location wise/amount of ppl using), at times it can be the modem as well~~
But so far the latest Huawei 3G modem works well even with EDGE. The el cheapo ones, I got a lot of idle timeouts (need to refresh a lot) but other than that, DiGi's EDGE is stable throughout smile.gif

Few more questions about DigiEDGE:
1. contract for how many year ?
2. first month payment is how much ? can online payment ?
3. monthy payment is RM66 or RM99 ? I was confused.

Thanks.
*
DiGi's EDGE is contract free. Advance payment would be RM66 but the package is not inclusive of modem (seperate purchase unless promotion bundle). So first bill, a RM10 stamp duty and 5% tax is included as well

Previously it was RM99, now is RM66

1. No contract. Can terminate anytime you like
2. No payment on first month. Register at Digi Center and you can use it after 48 hours. Yes, you can pay online.
3. RM 66 for Data only. I believe RM 99 is for Data + voice plan
*
Unless you're talking about RM66 + SSFD RM33 tongue.gif
But that you will need a voice line included in the bill

No doubt EDGE is more stable compared to Celcom but the download speed is miserably slow. I believe it is the users congestion issue. sad.gif

Might think of other options now, but as far as I know Maxis 3G has yet to reach my campus. sad.gif

Else gonna suffer another 3 more months. I admit the sudden slow down on download speed makes me crazy. Maybe there is a trade, you can't have stability and fast speed together. Well, at least this applies to my location. sweat.gif
*
Thats the trade off of using EDGE, its still a shared network, sometimes will drop lower than GPRS speeds
but when it is good, it is really fast and stable

Insert the sim into your phone/modem, if there's signal already, then you can use

Yeah, but around 25kB/s, is sufficient already. rclxms.gif

Latest speed:

I noticed the slow upload speed recorded but the truth is I face no problem in uploading files to my email. I usually simultaneously attach 5 files one shot, approximately 120kb for each file. It can be uploaded less than 1 minute. thumbup.gif
*
yup constant 25KB/sec is the best
Highest I got was 26KB/sec

Yup, diginet is only applicable for Data Unlimited

You can't use it for 3.5G as it has its own APN which is also backwards compatible

Yup, once u are on EDGE, and u're downloading things, best not to interrupt it with surfing and etc
It will be quite an inconvenience plus it will affect ur downlaod speed as well
