k army, tolong me please - i am thinking of picking up and learning about IOT, and will be starting with the ESP8266 wifi modules. Can any sifu tell me where I can buy electronic components like resistors, voltage regulators, breadboards, jumper wires, etc in KL/PJ area?

inb4, Jalan Pasar (but jalan pasar people very unfriendly, i want a shop where i can ask questions and gain some knowledge too, jalan pasar sellers all rude and unfriendly)

thank you very much

Buy from element14 or RS Malaysia. If you are good at buying from Taobao, that would be awesome! I bought most of my electronics from there

i buy from online
both element14 and rs-online are good source
i think they're both very good
i once only needed only a few capacitor to fix my monitor, they also send

problem is im kinda a newbie in electronics, so i want to ask questions like how to calculate resistors, how to put and connect them, u know - those kinda newbie questions.

I am also learning online as we speak, but just though a physical shop with physical person can clear alot of my doubts in a short amount of time smile.gif

I dont think physical shop will give you lessons on electronic 101. those you need to learn from elsewhere.

no im not looking for an electronics 101, please don't misunderstand my requirement. I am not looking to be spoonfed. but having a real person to chat with verbally is alot easier to clarify things than typing it out online.

p/s: like i said, im doing my own studies now online on electronics and circuits, i am not going to the shop and sit them down to give me a lesson what a resistor does!

Element14 and RS,u buy one resistor for less than 1 cent also they would still send with Gdex,I tried smile.gif been buying from them ever since for prototyping purpose
haha...don't expect them to know laugh.gif a lot of them don't know what they are selling TBH, although u might get lucky if a knowledgeable shopkeeper would actually layan you. Besides, someone mentioned Nixie at Jalan Pasar, the shop assistants there are quite friendly when compared to the others

thanks bro - yeah am planning to check Nixie out haha

Shop ppl mana ada masa nak layan soalan noob TS...

Self learn electronics not that difficult nowadays. Just need to be able to understand the fundamental.

Also I used to try to sell component but a lot of ppl ffk me...

If i buy from you and don't ffk you, can I ask you questions when buying? it will be just to validate my circuitry design, im not going to ask you how to determine resistor value I promise cool2.gif
