This one would be great for the texters. I'm wondering about the specs though. Yes, price is an important factor, since this phone isn't rootable. But on the basis of "use it as it is", this one's skewed towards the heavy texters, and I would love just to grab one. LOL.
They better up the game on the Hub with this too. oh boy, 18mp front, 8mp back, 3GB RAM +32GB ROM, Snapdragon 625 That makes it somewhat of a middle tiered phone (lower end?) So I hope the price reflects this. Torch lovers had the Priv to play around with, now the Bold users should be tempted with this. Imagine all that shortcuts useable on the keypads. hold spacebar for camera, or hold alphabet this that for this that app, right on the spot. Liking it very much for a "last hurrah". If it comes with the same Moto Z Play's battery capacity and an unlocked bootloader, I'm all set for it.

Since changing from Passport to iPhone, you can not believe how much typo error i had makes. Can't wait to be back to physical keyboard. Initially thinking of buying Priv due to it's low price now, but the sluggish OS performance and below average front facing camera makes me want to wait for this Mercury device. Looking at both DTEK50 and DTEK60, overall hardware from TCL is great. I'm sure it will continue to translate in the Mercury device. I'm putting my bet now, the device will be named DTEK 70 😆

BlackBerry KeyOne (Mercury) LEAKED
The BlackBerry KeyOne (known in leaks under its BlackBerry Mercury codename) official webpage has just gone live prematurely, hours before the company's event at MWC 2017 starts. And it reveals a ton of interesting details about the new phone. The BlackBerry KeyOne is the newest and most powerful 'Berry with a full QWERTY keyboard and the largest ever battery in a BlackBerry. An interesting detail to remember while reading about this new 'Berry is that the phone is now actually made by TCL, while BlackBerry is a licensing partner, but will not handle the actual sales and distribution of the phone. With this in mind, here are all the important features of the KeyOne: Android 7.1 Nougat on board 4.5-inch scratch-resistant, 1620 x 1080-pixel display, 3:2 ratio Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa-core chip 3GB RAM, 32GB on-board storage Dimensions of 149.3 x 72.5 x 9.4mm, 180g weight Smart QWERTY keyboard 12MP rear camera (Sony IMX378 sensor) with 4K video at 30 fps, f/2.0 lens 8MP fixed-focus front cam, 1080p video 3,505 mAh battery, 50% charge in 36 minutes USB Type-C As with any BlackBerry, the focus here is on the full QWERTY keyboard with customizable actions to each key and the ability to swipe on the keys, as well as on the full suite of security features and BlackBerry messaging services. The phone has a nice design too, with a soft touch back material, an all-day battery life and the latest version of Android, 7.1 Nougat on board. The main 12-megapixel camera also features the excellent Sony IMX378 sensor, the same one as in the Google Pixel, which is currently one of the best camera phones out there. NO SUPPORT FOR VERIZON AND SPRINT 4G LTE BANDS Interestingly, the North American (U.S.) version of the BlackBerry KeyOne does not support all of the essential 4G LTE bands required by Verizon Wireless and Sprint, so it will likely only work with AT&T and T-Mobile. Here is the full list of 4G LTE bands supported by the U.S. bound version of the KeyOne: bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17, 19, 20, 28, 29, 30. Check which 4G LTE bands are required by each U.S. carrier here. ![]() |

not bad!
its everything the Priv has, and better. The keypads are touch sensitive (can act as trackpad, can flick, etc) The spacebar itself is both a space bar, and also a fingerprint scanner. All buttons reprogramable to act as shortcut keys. 3GB RAM is a bit small (maybe apps are richer these days?) but the expandable storage is definitely a welcome. I just hope the expandable storage can be converted into nano sim (although there are already hacks for other phones to have BOTH storage + nano sim, two in one!) the smaller screen size doesn't discourage me. It looks great. Too bad it ain't as wide as the Passport, i'm sure it would have been lovely. |

It has everything except the price tag, again.
USD549 has a lot of other options, I mean slab phone, but keyone is targeting 2 segments here, 1. PKB freak who skipped the Q10/classic/priv. 2. The long gone bb users from bbos era. So the only competition keyone has here is only priv, in this very niche market. Will it be the game changer? Definitely yes but not enough in making a comeback. I mean from the entire market share of close to 0 percent, they might be able to ship more with this model. Will it be a success in the BB users group? Of course yes. Many will see it as a upgrade from PP/Q10/classic but not from those using priv at this moment. Never mind the design, the specs are great but not enough to cajole Priv's into buying this. Personally I am sold mainly due to the PKB and RGB light indicator(LOL), but this will not sell well here in MY, but don't be surprise people will finally give it a try for a keyboard phone, especially those who never own BB phone in their life. Lastly, the BB Aurora(merah Putih) has just launched in Indonesia. Quite a decent mid range phone. |

BlackBerry and right price are never align
The main point for this phone is the keyboard which is nothing to wow about. But as always, I will keep buying them every time they come out with new device. I seems can't ignore the BlackBerry branded phone. |

QUOTE(crackedbox @ Apr 20 2017, 02:08 PM) Of course. My first own money bought the BlackBerry Torch 9800, so have a kinda feeling towards it I bought other brands too but it's not a same feeling with BlackBerry. DTEK60 sold after less than 1 month used, nothing special, like other Android phone. This one might change a bit coz of it's keyboard. Hopefully it's not like Priv that easily overheat even running Facebook on WiFi. |

QUOTE(neorage_x @ May 9 2017, 10:35 PM) Pre-order Blackberry User Group Malaysia now open! Media preview to be held later this month! It's getting near guys! Price 2699 - 2799 is over priced I think. UK is selling 416 pound exclude VAT which equal to about RM2338, plus 6% gst is about RM2478. So I beleive the retail price will be around 2499 when launch in Malaysia.Blackberry User Group Malaysia FB Page |

I'm struggling to get my iCloud calendar to sync though. The contacts work fine, but my calendar shows up empty. The 4-row keyboard is a winner and the build quality is up there. The spacebar feels a bit plasticky but the fingerprint sensor works very well. Nothing that hasn't already been mentioned in the many reviews posted to date, but it's everything I'm looking for in a phone: - top notch PKB - long battery life (coming from a PP, I never had to look at the battery indicator) - good camera - app support |

"It's here bro @nazrudinrahman . Can't wait to see you blazing a BB again. This is #BlackBerry #KEYone from @blackberrymobile .
With outstanding battery life, this is the best smartphone available for those who wanted latest android with physical keyboard. Won't sell in Malaysia yet, as this is a review unit for @nelsonrizal . But watch out for the launch date in Malaysia soon. #Android #Nougat #PhysicalKEYboard #SecuredAndroid #AmazingCamera" Attached thumbnail(s) |

Think I figured out why the keyboard feels more responsive in the pp - only the top 2 rows can be used for scrolling/swiping in the keyone.
But strangely enough, when in landscape mode, all 3 rows work fine for scrolling /boggle Had to get third party caldav/carddav apps for syncing with icloud - don't know why the stock blackberry ones don't work. I'm not a very app-heavy person. Mostly use browser, emails, texting and fb. No noticeable lag or heat issues. Like for like usage, the pp would've run hotter, so plus point for the keyone. What I do like with the keyone is how usable landscape mode is - being able to scroll without having a finger on the screen is a big convenience for me while viewing pdfs/forums. I also find the accompanying VKB to be less error-prone than the iOS ones. Shooting photos is also more comfortable: - the shutter release button in both portrait and landscape is in a more natural position for the thumb (not smack at the bottom of the screen) - it is possible to shoot landscape one-handed steadily - the volume rocker buttons are close to the middle of the phone, so you can grip 4 fingers around the PKB and second finger on the volume down button. You also don't block the lens or screen this way. What I don't like is not being able to preview photos if taking them from a locked state. That's probably an android issue though. |

Got a Priv case on the cheap.
Fits well, but the LED doesn't line up. Can be abit slippery getting it out, just have to be careful there. Screen seems to auto-wake when taking it out from the case, but only if I put it in terbalik The case also sometimes goes into notification mode (shown below), but I wasn't able to reliably reproduce this. ![]() Attached thumbnail(s) |

man.. i was one of the few hardcore BB fans.. but reading over at the crackberry regarding screen lifts, cell reception, keyboard unresponsiveness, and many others have made me put it on hold..
with the Whatsapp expiry has been delayed to end of 2017, i'm gonna use my Passport Silver Edition until the keyone issues have been sorted out.. Anyway, hope that Malaysian sets won't be having much issues like those UK, European and US sets. |

What's the date on the box? For those who already have their KEYone, it would be very much appreciated if you could report any of the followings:
1. Screen lifts.. 2. Unresponsive keyboard letters 3. Keyboard backlight 4. Cell reception (compared to your previous used phones) 5. SD card issues (sd card errors) I believe these are some of the common problems/issues that KEYone owners are experiencing. Also, those who pre-ordered with brightstar will most probably receive it after raya. Because courier service usually close 1-2 days before raya.. |

You can install any apk anytime, so just install WhatsApp APK found on the net or modded WhatsApp. This time for sure it won't delay another 6 months, this is the end of it. When that requirement is implement, we can only rely on modded WhatsApp. Let's having fun until it last, the best BBOS10 to date. I still can't find a reason to sell this up. The unique 1:1 screen and keyboard, even Priv and KeyOne can't beat it's uniqueness. |

QUOTE(coolman82 @ Jun 22 2017, 10:54 PM) Just hoping TCL or other enterprise will buy that BBOS and continue making one.Or even better, BlackBerry still continue with their BBOS, just that phone is made by TCL. I don't mind BBOS don't have 3rd party apps, just update the Android runtime software to latest one. Android WhatsApp looks/working great on Passport, just that not optimize to 1:1 screen. We have already seen the Nokia is alive from the grave. Hoping the BBOS will too. |

They're allowed to use android os, but no longer able to update runtime on bb10..sad, but trueOr even better, BlackBerry still continue with their BBOS, just that phone is made by TCL. So far very smooth running this phone. No issue on running apps and the camera is excellent. Reading my old 128 GB sd card is also easy. Boost charging is quite fast. And battery life... nice. On standby during sleep for 8 hours.. Practically zero reduction in battery life.

First impression: Phone idle is cool, 30c. While my S8+ idle is 32c. Good job on software optimization or the mid-tier processor.
This phone is best to hold, obviously. Ordered a cheapo hard transparent case on Lazada today. Hopefully won't long enough to arrive. |

QUOTE(one1002 @ Jun 21 2017, 08:24 AM) What's the date on the box? For those who already have their KEYone, it would be very much appreciated if you could report any of the followings: 1. QUOTE(xisan @ Jun 30 2017, 12:27 PM) Obviously cant compare, S8/+ is still the king. What KeyOne only have is the physical keyboard. Both doesn't lag (s8/+ after the recent update, fixed it). Bro, any input on those questions I had above? Also which one has become your daily driver? This post has been edited by one1002: Jun 30 2017, 11:03 PM |

Mine's a Selfridges UK unit with build date end-April, and been using it for almost 2 months now.
1) None so far. 2) None so far. 3) Uneven, with the V-B areas being dimmer than the rest. 4) On par with the Passport. 5) None so far. So far, I've never come across Malaysia Keyone users report about screen lift issue. Does it mean Malaysian units are not affected?

So far only one shop said they can help to bring in if confirm order. Too sad to see that people nowadays are just buying the phone looking specs and brand only. |

No screen lift, yet. Hopefully none
Nowadays people will it online as the price is much cheaper than retail store. Some more there is voucher or free gifts. Btw, the Boost Mode charging is really a good feature! I don't find it in other brands though. |

Also, bluetooth issues |

If it's new like 1-2 days old, then expect it to be normal because system files need some time to settle down first. |

Hi Malaysia Keyone users, can you share what are the short-comings of your keyone or things that you don't like? Just as a heads-up to those who intend to buy.

Finally got my KEYᴼᴺᴱ last Friday. Here are my quick hands on review.
A little bit background, I am a power user. I do FB live blogging, managing company social media sites, generates posters, makes deals and email. Was previously a BlackBerry Curve, Z10 and Passport user before changing it to iPhone 6 a year ago. During my time with iPhone, it was really the first time I enjoyed watching videos and consuming media with the phone. But to handle all my other workload, I use Ipad. 3 days + in with the KEYᴼᴺᴱ , I almost did not touch or use Ipad other than to generate quotations for my customers. Every single task other than that have been passed to my KEYᴼᴺᴱ and it felt so good and productive. I made a bad call last time to put my corporate email in my iPhone. The iPhone is constantly in need of charging top up until I became fobia of the weak battery notification. Going back to keyboard is awesome! The screen is crisps and clear! Video and media consumption with KEYᴼᴺᴱ Is awesome! Great camera and the quality of the selfie shooter really took me by surprise. It is crazy good! But what's makes this the device for me on top of it all is the battery performance. 15-17 hours of usage and the battery still have a good 20% more to go. I did not charge my powerbank for the pass 3 days. I start to think I won't be using the Powerbank anymore. Bought is at RM2600 at Low Yat. It is clearly one of my best purchases in 2017. Plan to use this phone for at least 2 years. Hope everything turns out well 😀 Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(lizardizz @ Sep 14 2017, 08:56 AM) hang?? ZERO hang so far. the OS is very smooth and I even use BB Hub to it's full potential. Love that app! there is the occasional lags when I push the memory management too far (listening to music, while navigating using google maps in the background and at the same time replying email and messages) . This is definitely a productivity phone. LOOOOONG battery life combined with excellent speaker phone and great call quality. Share the pics when you got the phone! by the way, a friend of mine is selling his KEYone that he definitely seldom use. If got people interested, let me know!
