Actually TM can allow free tethering, but you need to pay for that because the terms set by SKMM. This organization must be fair to other telco. So no point to ask TM for free tethering. Only few people understand that.

webe sim card can use in portable wifi without any extra charges.......
TPlink M7300 tested....

M7300 v1 and v2 doesn't support fdd band 5
But v2 support tdd 38,40. So on v1 only 3g and on v2 must be connected to band 38,40 for lte.

Anyone here knows how to configure huawei e8372 to be used with webe? E8372 starts with NDIS mode as default which is detected as tethering by webe.
*
There are 2 ways to use the modem[8372] legally with webe.
1. Buy WebeBroadband sim.
2. Subscribe to tethering services for WebeMobile.

hi Evrae90,

Im also contemplating the between E5577 & E5377, could you share some light on the which should i go for?

As from my research E5377 is more exp by RM40 with comparison to E5577, which should i sought after? Since u have the first hand experience trying it.

Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
*
Huawei e8372h USB type is better because you can plug to powerbank of 5000/10,000/20,000mh

E5577 and E5377 only have 1500mh battery capacity. Just up to 6hours. With combination of e8372h + 20,000mh powerbank you can surf 24 hours easily.

This is what I'm using now.

Also tested with tplink mr3020 and working fine. Most tplink 3g/4g router support tmgo dongle.

So the broadband sim can surf internet on 5s?

I'm waiting for Huawei E5172 to test with webe. Although this router supports 850MHz it's not listed as compatible. Should arrive tomorrow.

I should try broadband sim on my 6 also

TP Link not support 850MHz it seems.. : 4G: FDD-LTE B1/B3/B7/B8/B20 (2100/1800/2600/900/800MHz)
*
So you got E5172s-515 that support band5?

Huawei 5172 variants:

HUAWEI E5172s-22: Band 1/3/7/8/20/38 (800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz TDD 2600MHz)

HUAWEI E5172s-920 : Band 38/40 (TDD 2300/2600MHz)

HUAWEI E5172s-515: Band 2/5/7 (850/1900/2600MHz)

Why there are are no variant that support triple band of webe
Band 5/38/40.

Yes. E5172s-515 not sure it works. Usually if th2 device supports band 5 but not able to detect webe, what should we do? Apn setting? Anything else?
*
Just wait until the router is in your hand and test it yourself.
APN setting just enough to make the connection work.
You buy it locally or international?

Jom komplen ramai2 so webe can get high statistik when skmm extract every mth

https://aduan.skmm.gov.my/Complaint/AddComplaint?NOSP=1
*
Complaint for what. Webe have no contract when you subscribe, you like you stay, don't like just leave.
If there are contract that you are forced to pay monthly fee and the telco can't fullfill services as promise then complaints is acceptable.

Why need ramai2 to complaint about webe? Just go to other telco. You are not welcome by webe.

but then even if i use hotspot... their system can detect??
=.=" then most of the prepaid is all unlimited also... haha... i thought is unlimited in speed and no speed control... Zzz
*
Other telco unlimited terms different from webe unlimited terms. Other telco playing with "unlimited" words for few past years ago for brainshit people that believe the word.

Still now there are telcos still playing with the "unlimited" word. Because they know Malaysian people already brain damage to believe in them.

Example : other telcos offer free basic internet/free 10gb = 64kbps?
With webe for the capped Google service still got 2mbps and for non Google services max 20mbps truly unlimited. For easy understand webe offer truly unlimited data but controlled speed only for Google services like YouTube etc.

You choose. If other telcos offer you 100gb with 64kbps,maybe you are happy by looking at gb data offer.

Hope the modem price from TM will be half the price market. Normally the modem price subsidized by telco as their package. I'm surely grab it for the price of <RM200.

If Webe is planning to expand band 38/40, why are they offering huawei E5377 ?

Probably in market no mifi can support 3 bands (5, 38, 40)?
*
If there are smart people in TM/webe, they will have to joint venture with any modem manufacturer to produce custom hardware and software to support triple band (5/38/40). For example the usb modem dlink dwm-221 customized for TMGo we have before. By doing this, it will be easier to customer to have proper modem supplied by telco.

Hope Webe is working with Huawei to come out with a model with all 3 bands of 5/38/40, so that users do not have to run around crazily searching for one.
*
Huawei already released the modem that support triple band of webe(5/38/40) but you need to pay premium for the modem. RM1k? The model is Huawei E5787s-33a. Time to ask TM to subsidized the modem price.

Worth it or not?
*
For now, it's not worth. Wait until webe implement band 38/40 widely. maybe within 2-3 years. Now stick to band5 and find the way to maximize speed. For example use external antenna for modem or use booster/repeater if your area the RSRP more than -100dBm.

From my test in my area that not have many webe users
-90dBm can get webe band5 full speed of 20-25mbps.
-95dBm = 8-12mbps
-100dBm = 6-10mbps
-110dBm = 4-6mbps
-115dBm = 2-4mbps

All depend on quantity of users on one tower not all place generate same results.

Price abt 800-900, but at this price isn't it better to get a smartphone that has all these bands(is there one?)
*
You are right. In my opinion any modem priced more than RM400, it's better to use smart phone as hotspot. My redmi note 3 already have most of the modem features. Enough for my needed and used . All depends on individual need.

RN3 supports all 3 bands? Do I need to root my Malaysian-set RN3 to run Network Signal Guru in order to see what bands are available at my home?
*
My set is ap set. I think it is same hardware with Malaysian set. Kenzo version of snapdragon. Need root for network signal guru. If your speed test is more than 25mbps, mean you are connected to band 38 or 40. Webe band5 maximum speed 25mbps based on 5MHz bandwidth.

Modem use with antenna. Still in testing. Without antenna RSRP is more than -110dBm.with antenna got - 90dBm. Place the antenna indoor just enough to get 20mbps. Without antenna got fastest speed only 8mbps.Will mount on top of roof soon when have time.

When adjusting antenna, I'm looking at RSRP for the main factor of affecting internet speed. But all related within RSSI, RSRP, RSRQ and RSNR.

What apps or software you used to check the dBm?
*
The signal info from modem web interface. Connect hp to modem wifi, open modem web interface, check the signal status. While adjusting the antenna, just look at phone in hand. By using directional antenna, the signal and speed will be maintained all time. No line drop like using omni directional antenna, because the modem on static place and radio wave on static direction. I got 15-20mbps all time all day. Internet speed consistent like using cable Internet.
