I see... Like I said, due to some circumstances, my internals got screwed badly. I guess I'll apply fer PMC / MMMC.
If there is other uni's other than these two, kindly name it. Thanks. I have yet to see those 'bombs'. |

QUOTE(hypermax @ Dec 18 2008, 06:58 PM) I strongly advice you to apply for PMC. MMMC is very hard to enter as JPA has already book many of the seats. However, if your cable is long enough, then it's not a problem. I see.. Looks like PMC is the only option left. And what do you mean by cable is long enough? |

I see.. But the fees are comparable with Monash.
Monash-around 500k PMC- around 550k In terms of quality, I wonder which is better. Are you planning to enrol in Monash? |

Well, may I know why did ya choose Monash instead of PMC since their fees are comparable? Surely there must be some reasons, no?

QUOTE(CyberSetan @ Jan 2 2009, 02:11 PM) As far as getting a medical degree and then serving the govt, yes. Well, if you can afford it, isn't it good to be able to experience a student's life overseas? Exposed to different cultures and all..But the experience, exposure and basic medical knowledge may very well differ from various different medical institutions. Say, those studying in Russia for instance, may be focused and exposed to the diseases that are common there whereas those studying in Indonesia will do likewise with regards to the diseases common in Indonesia. (example: malaria is uncommon in Europe, Frostbite is uncommon in southeast Asia) |

QUOTE(limeuu @ Jan 2 2009, 02:42 PM) my bad, i missed the 'more'........ If I'm not mistaken, Monash 1st year fees is 80k, but for every subsequent year, the fees increases by x%, forgot how many %. So the total after the fee increment each year would total up to around 500k+. That would be tuition fees alone.no, monash fees is 400k over 5 years....... remember there is significantly more cost in living expenses in uk, and factor in the airfares once or twice a year over 5 years........ |

What I don't get is the hype about Monash.. I've seen lots of people being so happy/proud simply becuz they're from Monash.. Their quality of education have not even been proven yet as their first batch will be graduating end of this year and the fees are skyhigh for a local programme..

QUOTE(Ibrahimovic @ Jan 7 2009, 01:39 AM) My father's cousin work as an examiner for their clinical year(something with optometrist) said that PMC students are very very good as they are trained for the first 2 years in Ireland. QUOTE(ShaneNg @ Feb 8 2009, 12:01 PM) Guys, Recently rumors of Insufficient seats for Doctors or even Freshman are flying... With the current global economic crisis, I think parents will start to think twice about the financial burden before sending their children to med school..If I'm not mistaken, Sin Chew once Published a headline which states that on the year of 201x(I don't remember what the digit is) The quantity of Doctors exceeds the requirements by 8000 people. Is it true or is it serious? I know that first thing that comes to the doctor's life is the competence, but you don't invest 350K into a course and complete it, then cant even get a freshman position, do you? |

QUOTE(HappyKid @ Feb 25 2009, 10:35 PM) I don't think so. As far as I know, Canada's med schools are graduate entry. You'll need a degree first. Not only that, their admission criteria is very very strict. In short, they want an all-rounder. Sports and academic excellence, charity and so on. |

QUOTE(Ibrahimovic @ Mar 14 2009, 02:29 PM) Oh. Still planing myself whether to go back to foundation or direct to medicine course. Hmm... Most likely per year, which makes the total even higher. Estimated living expenses in Dublin is around €10000 per year. In total, it would be around 1.3 million for the 5 years. If you do the 6 years, then lol, nah my dad is a private doctor in Johor. I think I might be able to go if the fees are around 700k-800k but are you sure it's until 1.1 million I don't think I could go there if its that high. Now I'm really scared! I'm gonna do some googling again. ANyone knows other country that have lower requirement? Thinking about Belgium now.. EDIT: http://www.rcsi.ie/index.jsp?1nID=93&pID=99&nID=1420 It don't says full smemester or just for one semester but I think its the latter € 43,500= RM208,215.18 Wait, it's a little high isn't it?
