QUOTE(wgy589 @ Aug 9 2009, 06:55 PM) for those considering to work in spore, do take note that they are slowly changing their postgrad trainings from UK to US style. which means from the current HO-MO-Reg-Consultant to residency program. what do u mean by they are slowly changing it? Compared to UK system, residency program selects trainees among new graduates and the training duration will be shorter (eg 5 years in ortho than the previous 6 yrs).Trainees are not required to sit for any external exams, eg MRCP/MRCS. oh yea, which country recognizes post-grad qualification conferred by SG? |

QUOTE(limeuu @ Aug 11 2009, 01:59 PM) whatever, expect more obstacles in postgraduate training overseas....those with non-recognised qualifications can generally forget about it.....and locally, with the plethora of new local med schools as well mass production from russia, expect more competition, and expect employers to look more closely at where you graduate from........latest estimates suggest surplus doctors by 2014.....some new graduates may NOT find jobs.......the era of doctor taxi drivers dawns, like in the phillipines and india....... yea, mass production from russia is flooding house-officership in msia. If i not mistaken many of them are extended due to incompetency. while i dont deny that most russian grads are good, imo those black sheeps will sooner or later be a problem in the health care system, and i dont really like that lol. SingHealth came to UoA few months ago and gave us a talk. Apparently they're opening up more hospitals and they need more doctors to sustain the system. And "hopefully" ppl will stay after their consultancy, and they "dont mind" ppl running out wor. lol This post has been edited by cygoh9: Aug 11 2009, 06:13 PM |

QUOTE(XteBan @ Aug 14 2009, 05:14 AM) I got a question here. tough question.Let's say I'm doing my local MBBS in imu. Would it be possible that when I want to do my post-graduate, i can go to oversea Unis to do it? For example UK or Aus or Sg? Ideally, if you are really good, sg might take u (on a case by case basis). If u pass ur plab and uk accepted ur application, u can, but it sounds quite impossible with the uk employment issues. For aus, pass amc examinations, got accepted and u can work there!, but with the increasing number of local grads chances are quite slim, unless u are opting for rural contract... |

QUOTE(XteBan @ Aug 15 2009, 07:50 PM) ooh..hello senior. hahaha. Are you going to do PMS or local then? Congrats on ur A-levels results =)Yeap. A-levels. I got straight 4A's. So u mean it's almost impossible for me to do my post-grad in other countries without going through certain exams which prove my qualification? You are quite right, except sg. U take AMC for aussie, NZREX for new zealand, PLAB for UK, USMLE for US. And IMO the best chance that you can get is the USMLE and NZREX. Sg may accept u on a case by case basis, but officially they do not take in the local imu grads. and welcome to imu xD lol This post has been edited by cygoh9: Aug 15 2009, 03:42 PM |

QUOTE(wgy589 @ Aug 15 2009, 08:56 PM) I'm asking for my colleagues in some local medskols on what do you mean by "case by case basis" this is what i gathered from hearsay from seniors, as well as the SINGHEALTH ppl when they came to UoA to tarik ppl to sg.Thanks If you are from a medschool that's not recognized by SG officially, you can still apply for a job in sg, with very good referrals, cv, etc etc, but of course you cannot do housemanship over there. They may or may not accept you, depending on a case by case basis. And apparently sg has no discrimination once they sign you in, and they hardly terminate any contract. I think you know it better. (coz i think ur more senior lol) This post has been edited by cygoh9: Aug 15 2009, 04:31 PM |

QUOTE(Cristiano-Ronaldo-7 @ Aug 15 2009, 09:41 PM) yheap. you need an external exam some how. i suggest you apply for some scholarships, or nus or something like that if you're not interested in working in malaysia. cause only a handful of students make it from seremban to america. its not easy, and of course after studying for 5 years, you'd wanna come out and work but instead you're studying just to pass another set of exams again just to work overseas. where are u opting for pms btw? |

QUOTE(pangping1510 @ Aug 17 2009, 05:27 PM) Anyone know hows the path like to be a paeds neuro after med school? Qualification, where to study, years of study and cost of study? I think i know u =), my long-lost primary mate lol. What i would guess is u become a paeds registrar after the housemanship, pass all ur exit exams, then become a fellow in paeds neuro for 6months/1 year. I dont think there's any cost for training at all, and the location depends on where u are posted to when u are working. i'm just guessing, correct me i'm wrong. |

QUOTE(MBBS siang @ Aug 23 2009, 10:05 PM) erm....I dont have any clinical text book yet. This is just an assignment for general anatomy which is skin. Our lecturer link it to clinical science and he just need an rough idea about this. Yesterday,I google it up and found that the nail appearances will reflex the homeotasis of the body since the nail apearence will easily changed due to abnormality of body homeotasis. I am not sure if this idea correct or not? U have 2 ways to solve things out. 1. just do nothing, and eventually answer will come to u. 2. study every system (cardio, respi, GI, renal, neuro, hemato, endocrine, etc etc) and then u'll know the answer.
