I have a problem. I'm being paid to study but since I got my hands on WoW I've been playing it even on weekdays.

Right now the account is suspended: good news. I'm taking my finals next week.

After my finals and the new quarter starts, I'm planning to resume playin WoW, but I want to limit myself to playing only on weekends.

Is there a 1 day prepaid plan or something the like that will minimize the cost of playing the game?

Thanks

It's normal to hate study when you are still in school, and miss study when you are not studying. For me the best part is where i know lots of friends through school/college/uni and the part where i hanging out with them. I never like study tongue.gif

But anyway...

You have to make some sacrifice of course. If you really enjoy it and can play alot during weekend (maybe +friday night) it's still worth it for the subsciption. As alot of raid commence on weekend as well.

If you want to control your playing schedule via the game (and not your willpower), use the Parental Control features in WOW. Go to WOW Website > Account Management (Top Right of the page).

Hope this helps

I never said that it wasn't. I just said that I'm glad that part of my life is over. Studying is stressful and not easy having not done it for nearly 10 years. This is coming fromsomeone who used to attend classes with stress-headaches-migraines every 2 weeks until she graduated. Having a bunch of friends while studying is totally different. Two different aspects.

Nope, I meant that I'm being honest. I like playing WoW and it can be difficult not to play the game. If I pitied myself, I would cry everytime I played. It also helps to be able to laugh at oneself as it makes you less edgy when people are commenting on you. Getting out of denial is the road to recovery.

Don't play then. Easier said than done I know but what to do? Temptation is there, even with parental controls set on.

Good luck on your studies though.

there only such a prepaid plan that I know off but its only availabe for WoW China versions. over there you pay as you play. if wikipedia is correct, there is really cheap you pay $12.99 each month and can play up to 8 hours everyday estimate. So damn because I pay also $12.99 a month but only can play 4 hours max.

but since you are studying, i suggest you don't play wow. its addictive and will effect your studies (do it before its too late if you can't manage your time already) and unlike working where the worst case scenario only means you get sack and can start over in a new company easily....bad grades will be listed in your transcript forever and its really wasting time to change course or college to remove the bad grades and retaking too many times will waste time and money.

i seem to have seen that phrase some time ago
and it is pretty sad to have to pay $30 per month only to play it about 8-10 times a month. the best solution is to find another suitable game ( but WoW's just so good... )
find another hobby, maybe?

I have the same concern as the thread starter.... I'm on trial account (level 19 female mage) and have bought retail but have not yet entered the key. Will they still count the barred days in the parental controls or not?

US$14.99 per month
RM51 per month (depends on currency exchange)

These are the 1-Month packages.

there are other alternatives to making full use of the hundred bucks you pay for 60 days play time. the most reliable but risky way is botting. haha

QFT

and just to let you know, blizzard does NOT tolerate illegal playing such as botting unlike your general mmo's. just a heads up, they just sue'ed WoW glider (a famous botting program) and are still in the process of making more claims out of the author of WoW glider.

if they can flex their army of lawyers all around the world just because of that, they certainly wont have a problem in banning your account and deleting your character, at the end of the day, you lose.

A little off-topic, but studying is the best time of your life if you actually went somewhere away from home.

I did my A-levels and first year of degree at "home" and couldn't figure out what the hell the fuss was about. Then while doing the remainder of the degree "alone," wow I miss those 3 years so much.

Was supposed to be 2 years, but WoW made me extend to 3. At least I got my paper! biggrin.gif

i disagree.

it doesnt matter where you are, so long as you learn and make friends ud have a wonderful student life

i dont understand when you said "home" and "alone"

if that's an attempt to subtlely tell us you finished ure degree in Australia, you might as well just say it out straight

like im in california now, $15 equals to an hour job at the computer administration center smile.gif

"home" - back in Malaysia.
"alone" - when u're out of your home country and one is finding it hard to make friends? some people adapt to the environment better than others.

anyway, we're digressing regarding the question that you ask. i think u got most of the answers already so it's now up to u what you want to do.

I did my degree in New York, but that's nothing to shout about/be proud of, and neither was it the point.

I believe the best "study experience" is being on your own, having to juggle studies/part time job/friends/entertainment/expenses, with zero parental supervision. It's knowing that you can almost do whatever the hell you want, but then realizing that with great freedom comes great responsibility - and yet if shit hits the fan, you still have your parents/relatives looking out for you.

I'm not saying that you can't have a great college experience in your home town, I'm just saying it's probably a more "complete" experience away from home.

(On your own just means away from your hometown, not necessarily overseas)

Anyway with regards to weekend only WoW, end-game will be a huge challenge. Especially when you're on a Us-time server, cos raiding on weekdays is impossible, and raiding on weekends involves waking up at stupid hours.

He said he is in California, so timing won't be a problem. Besides, there are lots of guilds that raids only on weekends. Can't expect top-of-the-line loot on a weekend only raid though.
