Compare to last year best camera phone>>s7edge, the low light performance is bad & focus speed is slow. Other than that, it is a flagship level camera. But don't compare with leica brand.

Mate 8 was launched in Nov 2015 whereas S7 was launched in Mar 16. In an ICT world a 5-month difference in technology is like comparing hell to heaven. That said, it is also not fair to compare S7 against Mate 9.

For all intents and purposes, Mate 8 camera is good & fit for purpose at the time of release and can still stand on its own compared to others launched around its time.

I have a P10 but even this can't seriously challenge my 5-year old DSLR. Hence we should not expect too much in this kind of multi-purpose devices. All smartphones are like jacks of all trade, masters in none -except maybe in telephony. Cheers.
