Besides lousy battery optimisation for B521, is there any positive advantages in upgrading from B321?

I thought it was an in-built apps in Huawei systems.

Downloaded firmware twice, followed the steps, MD5 verified, Update App transferred to Upload folder, but still failed.

I also tried using USB thumbdrive - fail, fail, fail. 3 times knocked out.

Very frustrating.

I tried to flash from B321 to B211 - also failed. I have had enough - now deleted the dload & HWFF folders & uninstalled the Firmware Finder App. Will await the official update from HW.

Earlier I tried downloading from Firmware Finders but all attempts failed. Really really cheesed off.

Can Mate 8 use VoLTE? How do I activate it?

I am downloading B330 (total 153 Mb) now. What I don't understand is why only EMUI 4.1 and not the latest EMUI 5.0 or 5.1?

After updating to B330, the updater immediately go into B563 which is EMUI 5.

I already updated to EMUI 5.0 by OTA - it is a huge file at 2.1Gb. I like this latest EMUI/Nougat for the 2 Facebooks and 2 WhatsApps, and the ability to include the emergency numbers in the lockscreen. Other than that, I think the changes are not significant and more importantly there is no lag in my old Mate 8.

EMUI 5.0 is smoother than EMUI 4.1. Camera seems the same. I also don't notice any significant difference in battery usage. The EMUI 5.0 also doesn't mess up my other apps and the best part is it allows me to uninstall bloatwares whereas previously I can only deactivate or stop their update. For me, the double Facebooks & WhatsApp is worth the upgrade. No regrets so far.

Funny, I have no issues. Check your settings.

Mate 8 was launched in Nov 2015 whereas S7 was launched in Mar 16. In an ICT world a 5-month difference in technology is like comparing hell to heaven. That said, it is also not fair to compare S7 against Mate 9.

For all intents and purposes, Mate 8 camera is good & fit for purpose at the time of release and can still stand on its own compared to others launched around its time.

I have a P10 but even this can't seriously challenge my 5-year old DSLR. Hence we should not expect too much in this kind of multi-purpose devices. All smartphones are like jacks of all trade, masters in none -except maybe in telephony. Cheers.

My IT guru once told me "What you bought today was already outdated yesterday". That means Mate 8 is antiquated.

So if your budget permits, go for a newer model such as Mate 9 or wait for Mate 10 - try to future proof your purchase. Cheers
