Hi guys it's me again.
After some survey I have decided to go with MSI
But I'm having dilemma in choosing between the
Prestige pe60 6qe which I saw for rm 4099 but free 128ssd and free 4gb ram
And the GL 62 6qf which I got quoted for 3599 but no free SSD and ram and it would cost about 4K also after upgrading. But I liked the backlit keyboard of the prestige. Any good tips from Sifus here?

Its better to max up the non-upgradable GPU/CPU within ur budget, later u can upgrade the ram/SSD when require.
Its best for u to wait for other OEMs to launch/refresh their laptops with next generation pascal GPUs GTX1050/GTX1050Ti. brows.gif

u can also consider Commandos F15 fr Tech Armory with better IPS screen & faster GTX965mTI and bigger 4GB vram or the new Commandos G15EXIII with GTX1050Ti perform on par with GTX970m.

Check out the latest laptop.

U can consider Commandos F15 from Tech Armory with better IPS screen and GTX965mTi(4GB) perform between GTX960m & GTX970m,
or wait for other OEMs to refresh their laptop with GTX1050Ti/GTX1050 if not hurry. smile.gif

Hi all,

I would like to buy a gaming laptop. I did a quick online research on ASUS ROG series, MSI gaming laptop and HP Omen. However, there are too many models available in the market and I don't know which model is the best deal that I should go for.

1. Preferred brand : Asus/MSI/HP/Dell/Lenovo
2. Budget : Below 5k
3. Usage : Gaming
4. Screen Size : Any
5. OS: Windows 10
5. CPU: i7-6700HQ and above
6. Graphic: GTX960M/965M or GTX1050/1060
7. RAM: 8GB DDR4 and above
8. Storage: 1TB HDD + 128GB SSD

Any good recommendation for the above specification?

Is there a huge difference between GTX9xx series and GTX10xx series in terms of graphic quality? Is it worth paying more to get GTX10xx series?

Besides, did you guys purchase laptop from online sites such as lazada and techhypermart? Are they reliable?

Appreciate your advice and thanks in advance.

Best deal for gaming, just get the best non-upgradable pascal GPU (GTX1060) within ur budget(5k) to ensure smooth gaming. Later can upgrade ram/HDD/SSD.

Asus ROG FX502VM portable gaming powerhorse with GTX1060 is the best bang for ur buck. brows.gif
Its the stripped-down version of GL502VM using the same chassis/cooling designs.

Price quoted is rsp, pls nego for it.

hello laptop sifu, I would like to ask some questions regarding the dell new inspiron 15" gaming laptop,

1) Between the 7th gen i5 and i7 processor, will they affect both the graphic card(1050/1050ti)(bottleneck?) and gaming performance(fps, etc.)? If so, is it significant?

2) For both desktop and laptop, If I were to play current gen games somewhere at mid to high settings, will 8gb of ram be enough or is 16gb the current standard? (Since battlefield 1 multiplayer can take up to 8gb ram, along with some windows 10 stuff running at the background) Also, since the 1050ti comes with 4gb of vram, hence 8gb of ram would be sufficient?

3) Since the website claims that consumer can upgrade the ram, and I assume that that will cost an additional RM800 (correct me if I'm wrong), will it be more worth it to go for the 5k option than the 4k + 800 option?

4) Overall, bang per buck wise, would you recommend people to go for the the new 1050 option than the previous 960m option?
*
Budget gamers will use their budget to get the best non-upgradable GPU, and upgrade ram/SSD later.

1. No significant gaming performance gain for i7 vs i5.
2. Just add 8GB 2400MHz ram(250-300) + default 4GB is good enough for most gamers. Ask the shop to upgrade & save the trouble.
3. Insp 7567@3999 is more worth it with GTX1050Ti=GTX970m.
4. GTX960m is not worth it vs GTX1050.
ROG FX502VM@4799 with GTX1060(3GB)>GTX980m is the best bang for the buck. brows.gif

Insp 15-7567 retail variants arrive already, Dell website have some pricing errors.
Check out with Dell authorised resellers.

Price quoted is rsp, nego with them. icon_rolleyes.gif

wah, thank you thank you, so detailed.

did checked out the new 7567 with the odd pricing on their website.

never thought of of just getting the 4gb one and add 8gb to it

do you have a link to the ROG FX502VM-DM145T model? The Asus's ROG website shows that it doesn't have any graphics card, or the one with 1060 haven't release? Also, does it have some customization option to it? wanna change 1tb to 500gb + ssd. 1060 base model so cheap? cheaper than 7567 top spec model?

Local Asus website always slow as usual, refer global website for info. u can upgrade ram/SSD urself or ask the shop to do it.

FX502VM is the stripped down version of GL502VM, refer here for comparision. smile.gif
