Hello lads. Could you recommend my friend something. Work as O&G engineer with previously used 6 years old laptop with i5 460 and radeon graphic. I think this one.

1. Preferred brand : Any reliable
2. Budget : 1.5k
3. Usage : office usage, something that capable to match or better his previous laptop.
4. Screen Size : any. 14 I guess in this price range
5. Extra features would be bonus(sleek, slim, probably SSD too if it's not too much tongue.gif ).

On second thought, with the budget I think it's an impossible for a new one.

Hi sifus, looking for some recommendations.

1. Preferred brand : Any
2. Budget : around Rm2000-RM2500
3. Usage : Normal, Photoshop graphic designing, light gaming (Dota)
4. Screen Size : 14" or 15" (15 inch screen look nice but concerned it is heavy?)
- Need decent display screen (IPS & FHD if can)
- can upgrade to 8gb ram
- i5-7200u, Nvidia GPU, HDD, Windows
- prefer something that weigh around 2kg or less... need to carry around alot
- no need 360, 2-in-1 or anything, just simple laptop

any idea whether buy before year end or january better? Will price drop because new model brought in?

Hi sifus,

Just now I went to a HP shop ask for this Pavilion 14-bf105TX model, the sale people said I can add extra RM269 to add in 128GB SSD. So Pavilion 14-bf105TX will have 128GB SSD and 1TB 2.5" HDD...But I check with the HP support forum, they said this laptop do not have space to add M2 SSD at all...so the HP sale people just simply say??

1. Preferred brand : Quality build + reliable after sales services
2. Budget : RM4k +/-
3. Usage : Gaming (medium to high-end), editing videos/photos (Adobe Premiere Pro / After Effects)
4. Screen Size : 15 inch FHD (the more beautiful the better smile.gif ) (touch screen not needed)
5. video card : Best for the abovementioned budget/usage
6. dvd\cd tray: Good to have.
7. RAM : For the abovementioned usage, I think more RAM would not hurt

Thanks a lot Sifus!

Here ya go:

- Acer vx15 black edition - RM4399 with 1050 ti 4GB (some shop still has stock, search around)

-Acer nitro 5 - RM 4699 with 1050 ti with 128GB ssd (only 4GB RAM, need to add that later)

-MSI GF62 7RD gaming laptop 1050 4gb - RM3999 (best warranty, you can even find it in Senheng and with enough money for extra RAM upgrade, 4GB only😣😣)

-MSI GP62 7RDX - RM4899 with 1050 4gb  (no need to upgrade anything, even got 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, probably online only, and no windows 10)

Try to search for th acer vx15 first. That's the best bang for buck for anyone. If you fail than consider the Nitro 5 or the MSI GP62 for fuss free gaming.

I tried to find the new asus one but they are a rarity and not worth the trouble it would seems. Shame really, I really like the screen.

Hi guys and girls,

I've been missing in the laptop/Ultrabook/tablet section for quite sometimes ever since I got my company laptop for use.

Therefore would appreciate the community help here for a recommendation.

This would be a gift to encourage my sister pursuing this modern career through social media. To make things more serious for her, I would like to encourage her to create good content by means of learning on video editing.

Mainly the usage to this laptop to replace her ever aging 5 years old Dell on the purpose of video editing or creating digital contents.

Brand: HP, Asus..

Budget: Below Rm4k

Usage: Creating digital content, Video Editing, YouTube Content

Screen size: 13' , it would be best if its light weight for carrying around.

Processor: i5-7300HQ?

Hope you all can share some recommendations on this.

1. Preferred brand :None
2. Budget : rm3k +/-
3. Usage : Primary: Microsoft Office, media. Secondary: light gaming (lol and mmo), photoshop
4. Screen Size : Any but preferably 14"
5. Other Preference: 8th gen i5, ssd, lightweight <2kg, nv mx150, ips

Currently found 3 potential buy
1. Asus Vivobook S S510U 15.6"
Probably best fit my preference, only 4gb ram, gt940mx instead, heaviest of the 3 [edit* can't find i5 variant with ssd]
2. Lenovo Ideapad 320s 13.3"
Also fit my preference but ports are too limited, only 4gb ram, may need to pair with external hdd [edit* no stock]
3. HP ENVY 13 13.3"
Nice design but only integrated graphics, most expensive [edit* crossed out, over budget]

Looks like i'm left with the asus vivobook, does anyone know what the difference of a510u and s510u model?
Is it possible/easy to add ram and ssd by myself for the i5 model?
Any suggestions or other models that are within compromise?
