er, i think u mean crossover artists? like wat maksim did to all the classical pieces T.T
He made classical soooooooo techno, good or bad? hmmm....

There are some famous violinists around, although they don't make the pieces techno. Maxim Vengerov, sarah chang, joshua bell, kyung wha chung, bla bla bla. Someone clarify on this, but IMO, each of them have different style of playing, improvisations, perhaps?

So far, its rare to come across techno-classical albums like maksim, the crossover artists. There's the ever-famous vanessa mae, and a string quartet called Bond, and one more, also a string ensemble, can't remember their name though, but its something like Bond. I don't follow up with these type of music anymore, i'm into JS Bach now. XD

I don't really bother who the performer is, coz right now, i just wanna listen to as many composers as i can. I just buy CDs according to the pieces played, not the performers.

Will keep this thread alive since you want a specific discussion on modern contemporary albums instead of the amount of Rock albums that we have. Once you are satisfied, I'll merge this thread into the other thread..... deal?

Any album by Joe Stump,Yngwie Malmsteen,Greg Howe,Impellitteri, Gilbert, and the list goes on. .

I suggest you go Wikipedia and type Guitar Shredders/Neo Classical Guitar. . . A list will come out and take your pick from there.

For other instruments look out for:

Jake Shimubukuro, Ukelele, AMAZING DUDE! HE PLAYED CHICK COREAS SPAIN ON A DAMN 4 STRING UKELELE!!!! WHEN I HEARD I WAS LIKE OMG?!? DAMN INSTRUMENT ONLY HAS 1 OCTAVE!!!!

Bela Fleck, Banjo, same like above only he uses a banjo. . . =.=

Jacques Loussier, Piano, He plays Bach songs but changes them to Jazz, amazing stuff.

But these guys are quite new-old school. . . if you want stuff like Maksim then sorry i don't really think you'll like this as these guys don't add techno to ruin a song. . . no offence but i think Maksim is below average compared to alot of other pianist out there. . . only thing is he exploits what people nowadays trend (techno beats) and puts them in their music. . . Take away the techno and he can't beat greats like Ivo Pogorelich, Chick Corea, etc etc

omg, Equilibrium777, thanks for sharing on the Jacques Loussier thing, i'm gonna get him albums.

Keep more coming, its a fresh change from those techno things and, (i hate to admit it), my good ol' Bach collections....

Would really appreciate it for sharing more about contemparory strings, particularly violin albums.

be sure to check out jake and bela. . . they played bach numbers on their instruments too. . . which says alot since their instruments were not built to play those songs. . .

Yehudi Menuhin, another great violinist. . . if you play violin you should know who he is. . .

there is another aust guy but i forgotten his name. . . i'll look around my records and try and find it for you. . .

Edgar Meyer, Double bass, played with bela fleck on 1 album where its banjo and double bass duet playing everything from bach to jazz
