i know this is old but no one replied you. if you entitled for Private, you should pester your private banking banker, the one who is supposed to be servicing you. Btw in the forum, most think Maybank 2 Premier (VI + Amex reserve) gives you best bank for the buck because of the airmiles conversion rate. having say that, covid19 has made that rather unappealing at the moment.

If you want best cash back card, i will still recommend Maybank for the Maybank2 Card Amex AND barcelona (I force my partner hold all these good MBB card including the M2 Premier). If you spend a lot on grocery, Maybank Visa Signature. i do feel myself recommending maybank within my circle and in the forum. just too good to miss out. Maybe just lousy customer service from PB but good credit cards across the board though.

Other cash back card: Public Bank Visa Signature, SCB - Just One Platinum and Liverpool.
PB quantum, maybank 2 card amex
Maybank Visa Signature - 5% petrol, grocery

PB visa signature. PB quantum visa if you plan and estimate can wave most of the expenses. Also got capping.
public bank quantum master also can help with both items. low cap amount.
Maybank 2 Card Amex, Barcelona, maybe Maybank Visa Signature, seems to have met the min requirement.

Barcelona is the one look nicer. i dont think it's metal.

1. Annual Income:
RM70k++ (RM6k/month) and above gross. Net around RM5k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee:
A Must

3. Card required for:
Emergency. Or use airmiles or points when spending

4. Existing credit cards (if any):

5. Interested in CC from:
Open

6. Others:
Card for emergency only.

Anyway to sidetrack a little bit, is there any other products besides credit card that can be used for emergency purpose? I can't think of any, or maybe because there's none.

If you are looking for airmiles point, you can try to look for Maybank 2 Cards, AMEX has low rate of air miles conversion. For emergency fund purpose, are you talking about personal loan? Your credit limit can rescue you. Or you just tick agree of bank product promotion, especially stand chart, HSBC, they like to call to offer you loan.

Valet club i am not sure, didn't study about it. But in overall if you satisfy with 1% cash back for normal retail spending, it is still good. If you spending less than RM 250 per transaction, you can check Affin Visa Signature (Paywave) or Public Bank Quantum Visa (Paywave)or Master (Online).

QUOTE(GrumpyNooby @ Nov 20 2020, 02:30 PM)
I think he's not referring to the Maybank FCB VS.
It could be referring to the Maybank VS with AF of RM 550 waivable if annual spending touches RM 30k.

any recommendation for someone who only use credit card for emergency purpose and 0% installements for big ticket items?

I dont really believe in cashbacks and travel points at the expense of spending more.

Just need cc to manage my cashflow when purchasing big ticket items or buying emergency things.

Haha, for high income group, there are 2 types of people, high flyers chasing for airmiles and spending a lot on travelling and fine-dining -> all kind of Visa Infinite CC including Maybank Premier CC / Visa Infinite (Note: Annual fee RM800, waived only if annual spend >RM80000);

Some people just like to earn cashback then you may end up having a lot of cashback credit cards (normally monthly cashback is capped at RM30/RM50/RM80, not unlimited) -> Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature (1% cashback for general use excluding Government, charities, e-wallets and utilites) or Maybank M2 Visa+Amex Platinum (if you aim for cashback, get Platinum instead of Premier).

Since you are banking with Maybank, apply your first CC at Maybank Card Centre (1Utama / The Gardens) or branch, don't use M2U Online Application or third-party referral service.

https://www.maybank2u.com.my/maybank2u/mala...ds_listing.page

There are some good cashback cards,
(1) Public Bank Visa Signature (online, groceries, dining and 2x free access to Plaza Premium Lounge) (you may add Quantum Visa and Quantum Mastercard as well - for online / paywave transactions)
www.pbebank.com
(2) Visa Duo Visa+Mastercard (Visa for Online / Direct Debit transactions)
www.affinbank.com.my
(3) RHB Visa Signature (online, entertainment, club, shopping and 5x free access to PPL)
www.rhbgroup.com
(4) Hong Leong Bank Essential, Wise etc.
www.hlb.com.my
(5) Standard Chartered Just-one Platinum, Liverpool Mastercard
sc.com/my

Also you may consider using e-wallets as well, the savings can be more than credit card rewards/rebate. Good for small amount transactions.

Hi does applying cc at Maybank Card Centre (1Utama / The Gardens) faster to.process? Why did u recommend applying it at card centre and not online?

And by banking with Maybank, you meant having an account with Maybank? Like car loan, savings account, etc etc.

I would say Public Bank Quantum Visa/MC.

Having said that, best is different for everyone, depends on what you are looking for and your spending pattern.

PB quantum only needs 3k income. I want more prestige, and visa signature status.

I think Cimb visa signature is not bad, and citi reward.

I would still recommend a card like MBB Barcelona. the 1% cashback is capped at RM50, i assume your "few thousand" a month is less than 5k la. Similarly there's liverpool card from Stan chart, similar 1% but may have exclusions in different categories.

if want to accumulate points, can consider Alliance Plat / VI, the new cards but maybe others have better point cards to recommend

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Free/with swipe/can waive

3. Card required for:
- E-wallet reloads (Grab, Tng, Boost)
- Petrol
- internet (Celcom and TIME internet)

4. Existing credit cards (if any) : hsbc visa signature (best conversion to airmiles for this income range i think, and 6x premium lounge). 5x points for online and retail purchase at partner malls.

5. Interested in CC from: ANY

6. Others: looking for better cc, for cashback, and best airmiles conversion (if have)

1. Annual Income: RM130k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: OK if getting it waived is fairly easy

3. Card required for: Looking for something to use when I have maxed out the cash back of my Citibank card, good cashback / rewards for online purchases

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank 2 Card AMEX, Citibank Cash Back

5. Interested in CC from: HSBC Visa Signature, Citibank PremierMiles

6. Others: Air miles redemption would be a plus

I'm using HSBC visa sig. Not bad so far, if you want annual fee 600 waived, spend at least once per month, on your card.

6x premium lounge. Points can be exchanged to 1000 AirAsia, enrich, cathay and singapore krisflier.

+ pb quantum if you need more

There's a new card, RHB-Shell Visa.

I believe RHB-Shell is best so far for petrol/groceries. Can beat pbb quantum

Looking for HSBC card for online shopping such as Lenovo.com (as Lenovo provide 0% installment for HSBC card)
Would prefer reward points as I think more worth coz I saw the HSBC credit card, cashback maximum is only 0.5%.

1. Annual Income: >80k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Doesn't matter

3. Card required for: Buying laptop on Lenovo

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Few banks, citibank one of them

5. Interested in CC from: HSBC

6. Others: -

===================
OR unless you can let me know a credit card that can convert any transaction to installment with 0% interest!  thumbup.gif
*
Most cards can convert to 0% installment, popular being maybank and cimb cc.

Hsbc and uob also got alot of partner retails
