1. Annual Income: RM70K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: good to have, not a deal breaker

3. Card required for:

Focuses on Cash Back 1st, Points 2nd.
Living with my in laws, so Groceries is priority.(Estimate 1k-1.5k)
Petrol (Currently using Setel) (160-200)
Bills (TNB, Air Selangor, Indah Water, Unifi, Digi)
Hire Purchase (RHB)
eCommerce (Shopee. Lazada, Zalora etc)
Subscription (Netflix, Youtube, Amazon Prime)
eWallet (TNG)
Grabfood
Wife Student Loan (MARA)

4. Existing credit cards (if any): N/A

5. Interested in CC from: N/A

6. Others: Looking for first credit card.

For groceries and petrol, looking at:
-Maybank Islamic Mastercard Ikhwan weekend,
-PB Quantum Visa for weekdays.

eCommerce using PB Quantum Mastercard.

Any suggestions to maximize cashback for paying bills, subscription, eWallet and Grabfood? Bills not in my name, either my wife @ MIL. I still using prepaid.

In addition, which card is good for buying items using installments? Thinking on upgrading some items in house in long term(Furniture, TV etc), as waiting for my 1st home for completion.

Lastly, when applying credit card from different banks at same time (for now thinking on Maybank Islamic Mastercard Ikhwan and PB Quantum Visa), how many application would it take to affects your credit score?
*
all three cards that you are looking at are good, may even add PBB Islamic Visa to cover anything online
take note take cannot pay HP using CC
try not to apply to more than 1 bank at the same time if you feel your score is not good, risk of rejection. spread to 1 month or so.

MBB Barcelona VS is a good general card if you dont mind the 1% Cash Back for all purchases (except for government bodies, utilities and e-wallet reloads) all year-long; capped at maximum of RM50 per month. Will have RM25 SST.

May I know the estimated value of Alliance points?
Eg: 1,000 or 10,000 can exchange for what? Or how much voucher value can get with every 1,000/ 10,000 points?

Thanks ya!

Thank you @Human Nature!

I found that Lotus/ Giant RM100 voucher = 60,000 points
Meaning that if you top up eWallet (8x points), the value of rebate is about 1.33%

(60k/100)/8 = every RM1 rebate = spend RM75
RM1/75 x 100% = 1.33%

Correct me if the calculation is incorrect :-)

PS: Currently I own UOB Yolo (5%), Citibank Cashback (10%) & PBB Quantum Visa (5%)** so in my opinion, 1.33% is not so attractive.
**all subject to respective bank T&C
*
Yes, that is correct. Not to mention, it takes time to accumulate the points and the catalogue may inflate too.

Hi all, I need some suggestions on HSBC credit cards. Looking to apply for HSBC card through RinggitPlus to get their sign up offer gift (Galaxy Buds 2) as it only require to spend RM1k within 60 days to fulfill the requirement, but sadly HSBC cards doesn't seem too interesting though. Need you guys' opinion.
1. Annual Income: RM60k.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes / Auto waive

3. Card required for: Don't know.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Public Bank Quantum (QV & QM)

5. Interested in CC from: HSBC Platinum / HSBC  Amanah MPower Platinum Credit-Card -i

6. Others: I have been using Public Bank Quantum for almost a year now and don't quite able to fully capitalize on the cashback every month consistently. So this 'new' HSBC card is just an extra spare card or maybe beneficial for emergency use when we can travel to overseas again.
*
Honest answer, just pick any one and fulfil the swipe criteria for the gift. And if you need additional card, just look elsewhere. Nothing really attractive with HSBC cards.
