Guys, currently I have a citibank credit card which I gotten from my full time job (48k salaary per annum) but recently I resigned to pursue my business full time (2 years running already)

2019 i paid around 30k tax. And recently i upgraded my company to SDN. BHD. And pay myself 10k per month. My company nett profit is around 800k per annum.

I suck in cc management. Can I apply a better credit card from my business? Serious answer only and dont ask what business i do thanks.
*
You are too transparent with the nett profit numbers. While i'm not an expert of those who do business, i believe from the perspective of the bank they just want to see that you have regular salary. the fact that you pay yourself a fixed amount every month is good enough proof. i assume when you pay yourself, it's like normal salary, got EPF and this and that la.

So usually, what the bank really want is proof of income in this case salary payslip, EPF contribution (sometimes BE form, maybe for those without fix income or commission based) will be good proof because you are paying yourself.

hope this helps a tiny bit.

So basically I just show my payslip (the one i paid myself) would do? Don't need to share any company info?
*
You apply as an individual right? So yes lo, that's it lo.

To put in perspective, if you apply a business loan using your company, then yes la, bank want to know your company punya financial status.

But you apply housing loan which is for your own use, then no need show company information lo. Btw, me really not expert, but this forum got insurance agent, but never see card sales person. Lol

Good morning, everyone! Can help to recommend CC?

1. Annual Income: ~RM120k per annum (gross)

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Free/waived is best

3. Card required for: I want to collect points so I can sit business class when travelling 😍

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Citibank

5. Interested in CC from: Open for suggestions

Thank you very much  biggrin.gif
*
Maybank 2 premier. Get MU visa inifinite along with amex when you apply.

QUOTE(magiclover0716 @ Dec 1 2020, 05:04 PM)
1. Annual Income: 48k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Annual fee can be waived is the best

3. Card required for: Cashback, Shell (Petrol), Spotify, Insurance (AIA), Phone bill, TNB, GrabPay and TnG wallet, occasional dine in
Should be around 600 and above for total spending

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Nil.

5. Interested in CC from: Going through all the post, seems like PB quantum or Affin Duo would be the best. But I would only like to apply one now first.

6. Others:

Thanks alot in advance!

My vote goes to pb quantum. The petrol part is abit tricky may need another medium like ewallet to enjoy additional cashback.

Pb quantum reload to tng ewallet, ewallet pay petrol. Or unlesss got way to wave petrol.

Qunatum visa can use for dine in if >rm30, just remember to wave.

i generally manually pay my tnb and telco la, which is why my vote went to PB quantum. it's up to you if you are willing to manually do it (it does require more work and discipline of course). else what grumpy say will be better.

Hey people, thank you for this thread, would like to have some recommendations

1. Annual Income: 70 ~ 75k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Best if waived

3. Card required for: In descending priorities -> Groceries (main spending), online shopping/ewallet, dining and bonus if airport lounge

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Nil

5. Interested in CC from: HSBC, Maybank, CIMB as I have bank account in all these three

6. Others:

Thank you guys in advance!
*
Maybank visa signature is great for grocery. 5% cashback, everyday

Maybank 2 amex gives 5% rebate on most spending on weekend. I use this card for grocery because i only do grocery on weekend and major grocery outlet accepts amex, like tesco, aeon big, aeon, giant, mydin, etc. The 5% cash rebate includes dining but many dining places dont accept amex.

Public bank quantum 5% cash rebate for online and ewallet, and dining >rm30 (visa - paywave)

I will cancel UOB one, SCB, HSBC. Keep amex for petrol, unifi, mobile, grocery (main grocery chain)

I will go for PBB quantum master for e-wallet top up and other online shopping.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Annual fee can be waived is the best

3. Card required for: Cashback, Insurance (Prudential) - RM1,000, Phone bill, TNB, Groceries (Hero & Aeon Big)
Should be around RM2,000 for total spending.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Nil.

5. Interested in CC from: Initially was considering Standard Chartered JustOne Platinum until I found out that the cashback earned will not be credited in the form of cash but only to be used to redeem items from the rewards catalogue. Now, looking at CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum seems

6. Others:

I'm open to all suggestions! I just need one with the highest cashback for monthly auto-billing insurance payments - as this is the main purpose of getting the credit card.

Thank you in advance!
*
PB visa signature 6%
PB quantum 5%
Maybank visa signature 5%
Affin duo 3%

Enjoy your research on these cards. % are based on certain spending only.

Just one platinum cashback can be redeem to cash. You have beem misled. You just have to manually redeem it. Unlike most banks just auto it. But this is not the reason why i dont recommend scb cards

Hello sifus, I'm considering to apply for my first CC. Appreciate if you could shed some light  biggrin.gif

1. Annual Income: RM 40K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes or auto waived

3. Card required for: Cashback, Mainly will be paying for Petrol, Phone bills, Spotify, PTPTN, Robo-investment, e-Wallet reloads, Utilities, and occasional dine in. (Total around RM1K - RM1.5K)

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Nil.

5. Interested in CC from: Citibank - Simplicity | HSBC | Public Bank - Quantum | Open for suggestions

6. Others: Preferably trying to maximize the benefits I could get. No point going for rewards card as chances of hitting target will be quite slim based on my usage. Decent sign up bonus would be an added advantage. Recently applied for Maybank 2 Gold online and got rejected without providing justifications on rejection and got frozen for 3 months, so Maybank is out of the option.
*
Public bank quantum, affin duo cards.

Maybe cause you dont have any existing credit cards, so kena reject from mbb not entirely uncommon. There's always next time.

Citibank simplicity does not provide actual benefits relevant to your spending. Not good.

MBB VS is good if you want that petrol and grocery all year round.

if want PPL access just MBB 2 Premier only. else PB VS is the most ppl's personal favourite provided they hit the income requirement lo. which you already hit.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Nil.

5. Interested in CC from: Public Bank Quantum Visa/Mastercard, Affin Duo

6. Others: Please be specific. Example: Torn between the two as stated above as PBe offers higher 5% cashback while Affin Duo only gives 3%. But Affin Duo gives higher cap at RM80 instead of RM30 only (Pbe). Mainly to be used for paying ewallet, tnb/water bill, insurance and ptptn. Occasional online shopping and occasional retail/dining spending.

Would it be harder to apply for these two cards when I have no previous credit records?

Thanks in advance if got any advice. biggrin.gif

1. Annual Income: RM 110k
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Doesn't matter .
3. Card required for : would like recommendations from people with similar income to share their cc setups ie ; using A for x , B for y for maximum benefits etc .

4. Existing credit cards (if any): PBB MC/Visa Platinum , MB FCB VS , Citi CB , PBB quantum .

5. Interested in CC from: Currently applying for HL wise for the promotional cashback per 5 swipes .

6. Others : The pbb plat is not optimal for use but i keep it around as it is my oldest CC facility granted to me . i could cancel it depending on situation , im keeping the FCB for the moment as MB has wise installments usage plus i normally use it for sporadic big spends
I use citi cb for its high but limited CB , since i cap the citi easily i recently got the quantum MC to reload ewallets and the visa to supplement my day to day spends with its easy to use 5% on contactless transactions .

One of my other question is , can i use the Quantum MC to reload to bigpay and then use bigpay to fund transfer back to my bank account at an rm 0.50 fee to take advantage of the RM 30 cash back on online transactions ?
*
May i suggest you add PB VS to your PB cards then just remove PBB MC/Visa Platinum. since you already qualified for it. should go for it.

one of the most used cards in the household for me.

My current annual income is about 70k in annual.
Currently holding
MBb2 Cards
PBB quantum 2 cards
Ocbc cashflo mastercard
Standard chartered visa platinum
Alliance visa platinum
Uob yolo card

I would like to seek advice for which of the above credit card is suitable for all kinds of transactions such as petrol grocery e wallet big purchase (to convert into installments) utilities insurance dining shopping etc etc, so that i can fully focus in 1 credit card without any hassle and provide straightforward benefit (cashback or rewards points) from these transactions
*
i will cancel Stan chart, alliance, uob.

if you really really just one card: i will go with ocbc cashflo

If you dont mind cancel all cards and apply one card: i will go with Maybank barcelona or affin duo

if you ok to segregate to 2 sets: PBB quantum 2 cards for whatever with cash back dining, insurance, ewallet, OCBC for the rest i guess

if you ok to keep 3 sets, MBB, PBB, OCBC

petrol, grocery (aeon big, giant, jaya, etc) use amex

ewallet use quantum master

dining, retail >RM30 and they dont accept amex use quantum visa

buy big item use ocbc i guess?

not against it la... plus OCBC can convert to 0% installment not a bad idea la. if you dont want new bank, consider liverpool. they are changing the benefit to be like barcelona, but exclude more things like petrol and insurance and etc.

if you really want to apply back Barcelona, pretty sure Maybank welcome you. i wont mind doing it if i were you, usually human just malas. and other bank like to give free gift.

1. Annual Income: > 36k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferred

3. Card required for : I'm a Shopee seller and I spend a few thousand a month to advertise on the platform. I am thinking to accumulate some points this way since it's a monthly expense. Also will be good to build up my credit history for future usage as well.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): None

5. Interested in CC from: Any bank

6. Others: No experience with credit card whatsoever. Am thinking of getting a recommendation for a miles card to accumulate points since cashback/rebates are not attractive to me with their monthly cap limits.
*
I would still recommend a card like MBB Barcelona. the 1% cashback is capped at RM50, i assume your "few thousand" a month is less than 5k la. Similarly there's liverpool card from Stan chart, similar 1% but may have exclusions in different categories.

if want to accumulate points, can consider Alliance Plat / VI, the new cards but maybe others have better point cards to recommend

Hi sifu,
Need some recommendations here. I have decided to get rid of Citibank that been with me for > 20 years. For the last 5 years on average I spent > 60K per annum and full repayment every month. What I am not happy with is last year they rejected fee waiver request for the first time. They deducted 80,000 points to contra the balance RM200 annual fee (Rewards card annual fee is RM600, they gave 50% discount + extra RM100 as token of loyalty)

1. Annual Income:  above Citi Prestige income requirement

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: I am ok with spend and waive. Average spending on CC > 60k a year

3. Card required for: Auto-debit (utility, insurance), college tuition fee, grocery, e-wallet reload, traveling

4. Existing credit cards (if any) :
CB Rewards Master (>10 years - primary card - to be replaced),
SCB Visa Plat (>10 years - little to no usage),
UOB One Plat (>10 years - petrol only)

5. Interested in CC from: SCB or UOB Travel Mastercard card only.

6. Others: Earn airmiles, lounge access

7. I do not need many CC. Just one Visa and one Master from 2 different banks is good enough for me. No point paying extra service tax to gov.

Mbb 2 card premier if you can push it to 80k a year. forgot important caveat but great for travelling once covid settled

1. Annual Income: >rm150k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Good to have.

3. Card required for: Groceries and bills/ utilities

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Nil

5. Interested in CC from: Maybank since I have a saving account with Maybank, that would probably make it easier to apply?

6. Others:
