i know this is old but no one replied you. if you entitled for Private, you should pester your private banking banker, the one who is supposed to be servicing you. Btw in the forum, most think Maybank 2 Premier (VI + Amex reserve) gives you best bank for the buck because of the airmiles conversion rate. having say that, covid19 has made that rather unappealing at the moment.

If you want best cash back card, i will still recommend Maybank for the Maybank2 Card Amex AND barcelona (I force my partner hold all these good MBB card including the M2 Premier). If you spend a lot on grocery, Maybank Visa Signature. i do feel myself recommending maybank within my circle and in the forum. just too good to miss out. Maybe just lousy customer service from PB but good credit cards across the board though.

Other cash back card: Public Bank Visa Signature, SCB - Just One Platinum and Liverpool.

Maybank Visa Signature - 5% petrol, grocery

PB visa signature. PB quantum visa if you plan and estimate can wave most of the expenses. Also got capping.

Just for update, i have got my MBB FCB early of this year but Maybank had announced that their rebates will reduce to 1% only after August 2020. So, i think i will cancel it and go for Alliance Business Master (but their entry requirement quite high, so if there's anyone here know the trick, pls do let me know. smile.gif) If there's any better cards, please share to me. It seemed like all those good credit cards always been nerfed after few years..my bad.
*
i think most normal ppl dont go for business card, but you are self-employed, abit more unique, maybe you can get it.

based on your spending pattern and available cards

1) you should move your insurance from HLB essential to barcelona, the rebate is higher for barcelona. dont think you should cancel barcelona. 1% is still good considering you have high expenditure.

2) you can add on SCB Liverpool to your existing JOP. this way, rejection rate will be lower.

3) maybe maintain your HLB essential for all other spending... now only 0.x%? forgot.

1. Annual Income: RM36K to RM60K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must

3. Card required for: Petrol and Shopping (Online & Offline)

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank Gold Amex (The one that came with another card but i cancelled it)

5. Interested in CC from: Preferably Maybank as I'm used to it, but open to other options.

6. Others: Recently trying to go cashless but I'm sure you guys know its difficult to do so with only Amex haha. Hope theres something better to replace the visa that came along with it.

Also, any recommended thread or website to teach how frequent flyer works? Don't quite understand it so not sure to prioritize or not.
*
Try public bank quantum. Good for all-around purchase. online and offline pretty much cover all possible expenditure together with your existing Amex. you can continue petrol expenses on amex i supposed

For frequent flyer points, it's not rocket science, can just google, in fact we have a FFP thread right in this CC thread, you pergi cari la. the idea is spend more, earn more credit card points, convert to frequent flyer points (more commonly known as miles actually)

the slight difference is, different bank has different conversion rate, even same bank different card has different conversion rate. of course try to look for the best possible card where, you get the best conversion rate out of every ringgit you spend.

Thanks for such an informative reply! Checked out Quantum and found out it comes with both visa and mastercard. Will look further into it during the weekend biggrin.gif. Also thanks for the general idea of how "miles" work. Will check that thread out too.

A somewhat irrelevant question though, any idea why the quantum cards dont appear on the Imoney website? Most of my info is based off on Ringgitplus for now
*
I dunno. But i think most ppl for frequent forum actually fact check here or official bank website, not so much on imoney or ringgitplus. Those website great for applying for free gift.

which card offers the best/cheapest EPP plan? I used to use Maybank EPP, very easy to apply in app but 9% p.a. per month. than I moved on to UOB, with upfront fee at much lower effective fee than maybank. I've looked at StanChart EPP, but it's not cheaper than UOB.

just wondering if any CC sifu here know if there are more attractive EPP plans out there.

you can consider looking into OCBC Cashflo and understand if it fits your needs.

Public bank quantum has that 1% 12 months flexi payment, but also do read T&C. i think 1% is per year but do double check

Now that Maybank FCB has reduce the cb to 1%, I think the next best no frill cash back card is OCBC World Master? I know there are better cards for contactless and different categories. But I am looking for card that can earn some cashback when the spending falls out from those categories.
*
i think it depends strongly on how much you spend a month.

1) 1.2% for OCBC is only on first RM1000 spent
2) 1% for barcelona is for all (cap at RM50)

if you spend RM1500 and above (before hitting that RM50 limit), then Barcelona

If you dont mind the more complex version, Stan chart offers a good alternative

3. Card required for: Cash Back/Rebate

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Nil.

5. Interested in CC from: No preferences.

6. Others: Tried SCB, Citibank, UOB but no luck. Seeking easier approval especially RMCO period and without existing credit cards.
Is anyone successfully get first credit card this year?

In theory, if you have car loan and good payment history, it helps. Maybe you dont have car loan, which most malaysians have.

Start with the bank you receive salary from. But even that is no guarantee. I dont think local banks are any easier but do try anyway. Affin duo card and maybank 2 card amex gives ok cash back.

Forgot you mention aeon. Not sure if aeon supermarket still have that grocery or non-grocery problem though

1) can increase credit limit of mbb without switching to platinum. It's doable. It is probably less work but up to your personal preference

2) look into pb quantum cards first before affin. Pb effectively (%-wise) gives higher cash back than affin.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Nil

5. Interested in CC from: -

6. Others: As a fresh graduate and just started my first job, I wish to apply a credit card for the purpose of building up my financial profile. After reading some advice from people here, I noticed that it is recommended to apply from the bank where my salary is credited to (i.e Maybank).
*
alternatively maybank ikhwan mastercard or maybank 2 card (with amex)

the min income for maybank is 30k per annum. not sure how strict is the income requirement. but these 2 cards will fulfill the petrol and grocery, not the online part though.

but using amex limit your petrol to shell and petronas, cause not popular in BP, petron. and most major grocery can accept amex but smaller brand may not, example if you go Speedmart they probably dont accept amex lo.

so hence the alternative is ikhwan master.

Maybank 2 Card Amex which gives 5% on all spending on weekend. Most major grocery accepts amex. Petronas / Shell known to accept amex. other brands are less likely.

Else Maybank ikhwan mastercard which is grocery and petrol 5% but on friday/saturday.

Public Bank Quantum Master should settle most utilities.

Hi, looking to replace my existing cards with some that actually suits my needs.

1. Annual Income: ~RM100k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferable (unless cash rebate/benefits are worth more)

3. Card required for: Petrol (200-250/mth), insurance (400-500), e-wallet reload (300-500), F&B, medical

4. Existing credit cards (if any): CIMB Cash Rebate Mastercard, Maybank Barcelona, Maybank 2 Cards
5. Interested in CC from: NIL

6. Others: Planning to replace all of my existing cards - CIMB: can't hit 3k spending to get the measly 5% cb for only petrol, Maybank Barcelona: 1% no longer worth it, Maybank 2 cards: Most places I frequent do not accept AMEX so I've given up at this point
*
Public visa signature as well. Best card and you meet the income requirement. Amex can still keep for petrol, if you use shell/petronas. Other brand of petrol is different.

For the last 3 items if you can pay online then can use public quantum mastercard.

3. Card required for: utilizing Cash Back/Rebate, Daily Use

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Mbb visa ikhawan for petrol

Been doing some reading few post back and these 3 may suit my needs, however i only want to keep 1 card if possible, i really want to utilize cashback really, and PB card have min spending rm30 to get cashback. is Affin Duo Visa Cash Back best suit for my case ?

Affin Duo Visa Cash Back
PB Quantum Mastercard
PB VS
*
Public quantum master and visa works fine.

If dine in >rm30, go with quantum visa. For the rest can use quantum master because looks like you spend on online, utility, ewallet.

Can i suggest grocery/unifi go for maybank amex? Maybe petrol also?

Actually i personally like ikhwan mastercard because get rebate for grocery and petrol. But visa only petrol, right. Maybe you can weigh it based on your spending pattern.

Getting more cards does give you headache so i will still suggest PB quantum. Both are still used frequently.
