1. Annual Income: RM200k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Hopefully yes or can be waive

3. Card required for: usually 2k+ for insurance which is fix, the rest is petrol spending and dining.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank signature (given to my mum for emergency usage), very old Maybank petronas visa ikhwan platinum, but got no paywave, I don like bring card in my wallet, added all my credit card into samsung pay and use paywave.

5. Interested in CC from: N/A

6. Others: Hopefully got some rebate / benefit for Great Eastern insurance and also support to add into samsung pay
*
Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature: 1% to Great Eastern (doesn't matter online or auto debit). Unlikely you may find a good alternative CB card for insurance and general use.
RHB-Shell Visa: If monthly spending >RM2500 (including online and Shell) you may get >RM100 CB, 5% capped at RM50 on online e.g. pay >RM1000 at GE e-pay, 12% CB capped at RM50 on Shell (>RM416.67)

If you prefer Petronas, you may consider CIMB Islamic Petronas Visa Infinite, high CB on Petronas (12% capped at RM60) and Groceries/Dining (6% capped at RM60), use GE as filler to fulfil monthly spending requirement (statement balance >RM4000).

P/S: for your Maybank Islamic Petronas Visa, now you may use SETEL CARDTERUS (no need to swipe/paywave) to pump petrol at Petronas and get 8% weekend CB.

Hi,may I know what are the recommended credit cards for education/ university fee payment?
*
Maybank myimpact Visa Signature
Maybank Islamic myimpact Ikhwan Mastercard Platinum Credit Card-i
1% Cash Back for spending at ESG-friendly merchants under Merchant Categories Codes (MCCs) listed below capped at RM35 per month:
8211 Elementary and Secondary Schools
8220 Colleges, Universities, Professional Schools, and Junior Colleges

But Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature also give 1% CB capped at RM50/month for general use.

Public Bank Visa Signature
10x Green Points for every RM1 spend on Green Category transactions
8211 Schools, Elementary and Secondary
8220 Colleges, Universities, Professional Schools and Junior Colleges

If Foreign education/university fee payment, it is much cheaper to use WISE App to transfer the fund (FPX from local bank account) to foreign bank account, instead of using a credit card issued in Malaysia. Credit card forex charge > rebate.

Thanks for the recommendation. I work in SG most of the time, only back JB to spend my weekend so it is unlikely that it will > RM2500 or RM4000.

My monthly fixed commitment will be GE insurance, and weekend spending mostly on petrol, dinning and grocery, each weekend about RM300 - RM500 spending.
*
Insurance + Shell + Groceries/E-wallet/Online >RM2500
Shell 12% CB capped at RM50
Groceries/E-wallet/Online 5% CB capped at RM50
Insurance 0.2% CB (Assume RM2000 -> RM4 CB)

So total CB >RM100

3) HONG LEONG WISE GOLD - RM500
*
8%/1% Online CB (capped at RM15/month): ShopeePay, Grabpay, TNG wallet (Not saved card), Lazada Wallet only.
0.25% Others CB: Boost, Bigpay, KiplePay, Setel
0% CB: S Pay Global

All can be used for RM500 monthly spending.
Note: if Others spending <RM200, CB <RM0.50 so rounded down to RM0.00 (no CB).

SIA, ya KL-LHR, since it's cheaper (except for those with longer transit time) for the travel period.
*
Then I will use Maybank FC Barcelona VS: 1% CB, Maybank M2 Amex: 5X TP worth 1% on weekday.

Out of topic:
(1) For student fare, check with STC Travel Sdn Bhd (https://www.facebook.com/stctravel.com.my. SQ/Qantas/Emirates/Turkish) / MHExploer (MAS).
(2) Trip.com, may find some cheaper options.
(3) May be cheaper / more convenience to fly into Manchester(MAN) / Birmingham(BHX) / Leeds (LBA) instead of congested London Heathrow.
(4) Depart from Paris is cheaper, because of UK's Air Passenger Duty (a.k.a. Airport Tax). [eg. KUL-DXB-LHR, then CDG-DXB-KUL)

i looked at the card this morning but sadly I can't fulfill the 2.5k spendings per month.

At most I can only reach middle tier and it is just barely an improvement from my current cash back from AMEX  cry.gif

my TNG reload is mainly for parking (RM200) and food (transfer to individual for lunch box order, not business). I'm not sure if I can use other way to cover this ...

or RHB Shell Visa is the only way ...

You don't have to spend RM2500 every month but alternate month.
The cashback cycle is statement month instead of calendar month.
Eg if your CC statement date on 23/5, spend kaw kaw (2 months utilities bills or pay in advance, 5-6 weeks petrol) from 23/4 - 20/5 (must be posted on or before 22/5).

Morning everyone.

Annual Income: RM40k

1. Annual Fee: Preferably no fee, but open to options

2. Card required for:
- monthly groceries Rm300 to rm400. Normally spend at NSK, AEON and 99 speedmart
*NSK, I use CIMB Cash rebate platinum
*Aeon, if weekend use Maybank gold Amex. Weekday use CIMB cash rebate card
  *99, same as aeon
- petrol around Rm300 per month. Use Maybank Petronas Ikhwan Visa
- U mobile rm80 per month. Using Maybank Amex
- Shoppee / Lazada occasional groceries purchase
- Water, tnb, unifi, and iwk. Total around Rm400 monthly. Searching for card that can give cashback for this if there exist
- Other: Insurance, Car maintenance, restoran, etc

3. Existing credit cards (if any):
- CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MC
- Maybank Petronas Ikhwan Visa
- Maybank Gold Duo, MC and Amex

5. Interested in CC from: Any

6. Others: Cashback card preferable. MC, Visa and Amex

Can someone suggest better card for my application or maybe card to consolidate for all my spending? Something like 1 or 2 card to get all Cashback. Feels like a hassle holding all this 4 card.
*
Have a look at RHB-Shell Visa.

BTW you may use Amex for Lazada (including bill payment to IWK, Air Selangor, Unifi, U), Shopee.

PLEASE HELP TOTAL CC NEWBIE

1. Annual Income: RRM120K to RM160K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferably.

3. Card required for: Would need the card mostly just for expensive purchases/ Taobao big orders/ topup ShopeePay & TnGo/ parents grocery/ petrol/ bills.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): No.

5. Interested in CC from: Maybank.

6. Others: Fly for work sometimes so having a card that provides flight insurance + points is preferred.

I'm thinking of Maybank 2 Platinum card atm, because I rarely use CC and the travel insurance sounds useful.
RM25 SST is fine but is it possible to get only the VISA card and not AMEX?
*
Buy a proper Travel Insurance, maybe an annual plan.
Travel Insurance provided by Maybank credit cards is not useful, it doesn't cover anything beyond the flights. The compensation is very limited as well. Read the Master Policy.

For Maybank M2 Cards, you need to pay SST RM25 x2. Hard bundled with a Visa/Mastercard AND Amex, you can't have 1 card only. You may consider Maybank Visa Infinite Visa (annual fee RM800) or Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature (no Annual Fee), SST RM25 per card per annum.

For Agoda, Booking.com and Klook (online travel portals), i think most credit card have some form of promotions with them but you really need to look into the fine print. For instance, they may say 18% cash back but in reality the cash back is to booking.com's ewallet (which is annoying), 20% discount on published price but capped at RM 80 per booking or campaign is dedicated to either VISA or Mastercard only.

Couple of questions to consider:
1. do you want cashback or points?

2.
(i) if you want cashback, are you currently fully utilizing your cashback? Like you manage to meet the spend limit and hit the monthly cap of RM 15 or 30?
- AMBank CashRebate Platinum Visa
up o 8% cashback for online, groceries and pharmacy subject to monthly spend. Other spend, you earn 0.1% with no cap.

- RHB Visa Signature
up to 6% cashback for online, entertainment and shopping but each category capped at RM 30. Other category cashback is fixed at 0.20% with no cap. Cashback rate differ depending on monthly spend. x6 complimentary lounge access

- HL Wise Card
up to 8% cashback (weekends only) and 1% (weekday) for online, groceries, petrol and dinning subject to RM 15 per category and min monthly spend of RM 500. Otherwise, 0.25% for other spend or if you do not achieve RM 500 min spend.

*
If AGODA ... SG

RHB VS:
You won't get up to 6% online CB capped at RM30. You will get up to 2% Overseas CB capped at RM100.
Recently I paid RM4000 (charged in RM) to Agoda, I earned RM80 Overseas CB (instead of RM30 Online CB which must be "MY").

HLB Wise.
1% Cross Border fee even though the transaction is in RM.
(CIMB and StanChart and Bigpay are charging Cross Border Fee as well.)
