1. Annual Income: <RM110000

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes, preferrable. Unless can call to ask for waiver or can be waived if certain amount of transaction made

3. Card required for: Insurance payment (autodebit), online transactions, groceries, ewallet, dining, petrol

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank Ikhwan Amex, Affin Duo+ Visa (master not activated)

5. Interested in CC from: Bank Islam Visa Platinum-i

6. Others: Planning to hold max 2 cards. Currently the Maybank Ikhwan Amex not supported on some online platforms, insurance

Please recommend which better card I can replace with to best fulfil my needs. Thank you.
*
Maybank Ikhwan Amex 8% cb has very good ROI.
Affin Duo+ Visa 3% cb capped at RM50 on contactless transactions is flexible.
Adding Bank Islam Visa Platinum-i 3% cb capped at RM30 on online, auto-billing, grocery, dining should cover all your bases.

It's hard to find 2 cards that cover all your needs.
Maybe consider RHB Shell Visa 12% cb on Shell capped at RM50, 5% cb on e-wallet, online, groceries, utilities capped at RM50, min spend RM2500. (effective 4% cb)

Hi there,i need some cc suggestions;

1. Annual Income: RM34k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: waived if possible

3. Card required for: mostly for petrol and traveling.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): BIMB Gold (terminated 2017)

5. Interested in CC from: Maybank coz already an account holder so convenient, but I'm ok with other banks as well

6. Others: would love: Cashback, point that can be converted to airmiles if possible, Easy payment plan options. Estimated monthly CC usage around RM1-2k. Apple Pay is a must

Thanks in advance.

UOB One Classic used to be THE recommendation for your use case. But it apparently was not open for new application anymore.

From Maybank, consider:
Maybank Islamic Petronas Ikhwan Visa Gold - 8% cb for spending at PETRONAS stations on Saturday & Sunday and 1% cb for spending at PETRONAS stations from Monday till Friday, capped at RM50 per month
Maybank Islamic Ikhwan Mastercard Gold - 5% cb on petrol and groceries on Friday and Saturday, capped at RM50 per month
Maybank 2 Gold - Amex 5% cb for all purchases (except for government bodies and utilities) on weekends, capped at RM50 per month

I have this card, but I can't confirm also as I just received my 2nd statement.
Even I called to CS to confirm when the CB will be credited into account, they just like  confused.gif  blink.gif  rclxub.gif
Moreover, I do not made any transactions after I received my statement, but the credit limit reduced RM200 from my statement.
So I asked when I asked about the CB. Guess what their answer: You have to wait until your new statement then we only can know.

I thought Bank should know what and when is that particular transaction, but they seems have no/less knowledge/training about CC
*
I am still figuring out the cycle of Bank Islam cb.

For example, statement dated 25th Feb. Then cb for Feb (in statement it says "Cash Back for Card xxxx - Feb") will show up in mobile app on 10th March.
For any month, I have yet to charge anything after statement date (eg 26 - 31st Jan, 26 - 28th Feb), so till today I still don't know if cb follow statement date or calendar date tongue.gif
But I do get full RM30 cb for RM1K spend, so no complaint.

Yes, I also find Bank Islam CS less than ideal.
During application, they never asked how high credit limit I wanted to apply.
They gave me > RM100K credit limit, which is 2.5x my monthly salary.
So I asked CS how to reduce credit limit. And they said must download a form, fill it up and submit to a branch doh.gif
So I did all that > 1 month ago to reduce to RM10K. Till today still no action from them whistling.gif
Call CS, also blur.
One of this day, when I am around Jalan Raja Laut, I'm going to go to their HQ and sort it out.

Since your CB is dated on 10th, did you see the March's CB shown on 10th of April?
Your monthly salary is more than RM40k? blink.gif So you reduce 90% of the approved CL, but can I know your reason? As normally people want higher CL but you volunteered to reduce own CL
*
Yes. March statement on 25th March. Received RM30 cb for March on 10th April.

Luckily working for MNC.

I have a few cb cc. Affin DUO+, Alliance VS, Bank Islam Visa Platinum, Maybank 2C, RHB Shell Visa - for local spends cb, I keep credit limit low like RM10K.

Bank Rakyat Explorer (hotel), BSN Visa Cash Back (other overseas spend) - for business trip overseas spends cb, credit limit higher like RM30K as expense re-imbursement from company take time to process. I charge around RM10K combined on these 2 cards every month.

Only Ambank VI which I keep for lounge access and personal emergency has high limit.

Dear sifus,

Hope all is well with you. Could you please advice me on the matter below as I'm new to this CC realm. Thank you  notworthy.gif

----------------------------------------------------------

1. Annual Income: RM180k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Would be good to have

3. Card required for: Petrol, Bills, Reloads , Cash Back/Rebate would be nice to have as sell, AirMiles (currently only travel 3-5 times a year) ,  Free LCCT Lounge Access , and kids school bills

4. Existing credit cards (if any): None

5. Interested in CC from: any bank would do

6. Others: First time applying for a CC
*
For cash back, consider:
RHB Shell Visa - 12% cb for Shell capped at RM50; 5% cb for online, e-wallet, utilities, groceries capped at RM50; min spend RM2500. Effective 4% cb.
Maybank Islamic Ikhwan Amex - 8% cb for online spend capped at RM50. Use Posonline / Kiosk > SPLater > Amex to pay bills and get cb.

For AirMiles, consider:
HL Visa Infinite - automatic RM3.50 local retail spend for 1 Enrich Mile, RM2.20 equivalent overseas retail spends for 1 Enrich Mile. 4x p.a. access to PPL in MY and SG.
Maybe kids school bills go here, as I am not sure about cards with good cb for education fees.

Update to those interested in Bank Islam Visa Platinum.

Confirmed cb calculation is based on calendar month.

My example:
Last statement: 25/3/2025
26/3 to 9/4 - RM0 spent
10/4 cb for month of March
10/4 to 24/4 - RM375.72 spent
25/4/2025 - statement balance RM375.72
26/4 - 30/4 - RM388.65 spent
1/5 -9/5 - RM599.71 spent

10/5 - cb for month of Apr - RM22.93 = (RM375.72 + 388.65) * 3%

How long does it take to get approve for your card? I submitted since 2/5 still no status
*
iirc, whole thing took close to 1 month. Apparently they tried to contact my company HR via phone to confirm my employment status but nobody picked up.
At the end, I had to request employment confirmation letter via my company HR website, then forwarded that letter to Bank Islam, then Bank Islam confirmed with my HR again via email (there must be better way to do this right? doh.gif )

So it took 3 weeks from the date I submitted application till I receive SMS stating my application was successful. Then close to another week for Bank Islam to send the card to branch for me to collect.

Also cc statement is only available via email now. Can download statement from website and phone app only from July 2025 onwards.

Hi guys pls recommend:
1. Annual Income: RM120k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: waived

3. Card required for: anyday groceries shopping with mine 3% cashback. Something like Maybank visa signature 5% cashback without the fees.

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
1. Maybank ikhwan gold MasterCard
2. Maybank ikhwan platinum amex
3. Maybank 2 gold
4. Affin duo visa cash back
5. Affin duo+ visa

5. Interested in CC from: any credit card that can give min 3% cashback for anyday grocery shopping without the need for min spend.

6. Others:
Nil

Main goal: any credit card that can give min 3% cashback for anyday grocery shopping without the need for min spend.
*
The Affin DUO+ that you have basically give 3% cb for any contactless right?

Or you can consider this for low min spend:
Bank Islamic Visa Platinum - 3% cb capped at RM30 per calendar month for online, auto billings, grocery and dining, min spend RM500 per calendar month,

Anyone who is currently using Bank Islam Visa Platinum-i can confirm - does online include ewallet reload and/or SPayLater bill payment? Their TnC doesn't exclude ewallet and does not have a list of 'online MCC' which they accept. I understand from previous discussion that period is monthly (calendar) rather than statement.
*
For Bank Islam Visa Platinum, I can confirm SPayLater entitled for cb.
Never try ewallet reload with this card.

I've both Affin Duo and Duo+ already. If 1.85% for Alliance VS, isn't Aeon Platinum 2% for e-wallet better?
*
Based on effective cb rate, Aeon Platinum @ 2% is higher than Alliance VS @ 1.85%.
Alliance VS has the advantage of being very flexible with hardly any restriction. Eg. It gives cb for JomPay, Atome, etc.

It looks like all cards are getting nerfed.

My go-to was:

1. RHB Shell Visa - RM100
2. HLB Wise - RM55
3. Maybank Ikhwan Amex - RM50

Can easily get RM200 cashback per month.

My spending is "real", no e-wallet filler. But I do use Spaylater to maximize cashback for most groceries/dining spend.

Spend around RM4k per month across groceries, insurance, condo maintenance, petrol, Shopee/Lazada, dining and misc retail spending.

What's the best card to replace the RHB Shell Visa?

I've been seriously considering UOB One Platinum, however their groceries cashback is limited to selected merchants that I do not shop at. Also I don't use Grab/Grabpay at the moment.
*
As soon as cb terms of RHB Shell was revised, I applied for UOB One Platinum. Now waiting to collect card.

For local spend, my cb line up are:
Maybank Ikhwan Amex - RM50 cb @ 8% spend RM625
Maybank 2C Amex - RM50 cb @ 5% spend RM1000
Affin DUO+ - RM50 cb @ 3% spend RM1667
Bank Islam Platinum - RM30 cb @ 3% spend RM1000
Alliance VS - RM55.5 cb @ 1.85% spend RM3000
(New) UOB One Platinum - RM60 cb @ 4% spend RM1500

total is RM295.5 cb @ 3.36% spend RM8792. alright lah cool2.gif

How to maximize the MBB Ikhwan Amex? so far i use for Shopee & Agoda only, TNG ewallet topup consider as Online spend?
*
No, ewallet top up is not eligible for cb for MBB Amex cc.

For both MBB Ikhwan Amex and MBB 2C Amex, I use a lot of SPayLater.
Eg Utilities bills > POS online or POS Automated Machine (PAM) > SPayLater > Amex.
Eg Eateries that don't accept cc but accept Shopee Pay > SPayLater > Amex.
