Thank you for your reply, much appreciated for your ideas.

maybank 2card only rewards 1x tp for my type of transactions. I didn't mention that on the business side, I have a MAS Amex business plat and Alliance business plat as well but both has its pros and cons.

MAS airfare is on the rise and I would like not to be tied down to a single airline.
Alliance offers reasonable tiered CB but reckon could get a slightly better rate without the required tiers.

After much consideration and narrowing it down to the CB route for flexibility, these are the cards I would highly likely go for.

1. Amex cash back gold for 1% uncapped for majority of the transactions.
2. OCBC World for 0.6% uncapped as back up incase Amex can't go through.
3. Alliance VS 5% purely for petrol transactions but need to make sure not to exceed 3k range.
4. Maybank VS 5% for petrol after Alliance reached the tiered range and until 1.8k for maybank.
5. UOB One plat 5% for petrol spill over and groceries but only on the weekends.
*
Just fyi, 1 Aug, there is change to uob one card. You still get some grocery petrol cashback.

QUOTE(kart @ Jul 24 2022, 08:28 AM)
1. Annual Income: RM60K.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferable.

3. Card required for: Reload BigPay, and TnG eWallet.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank 2 Card Amex, Maybank MasterCard Ikhwan, Public Bank Quantum MasterCard.

5. Interested in CC from: None.

6. Others: None.
Thank you very much for your suggestion.

I use amex for big grocery chain, big online platforms, telco bills, unifi.

Air miles, things are looking abit gloomy because maybank 2 premier is the best conversion but now facing inflation. But abit difficult for you cause need 80k annual spend to waive though.

Maybank visa signature good for grocery and petrol.

Saw this Hsbc platinum cc on ringgitplus with free 1k TnG credit. However this card has no cash back and only can collect points.

Is this a good deal? My annual salary is >50k and i dont think I'll spend more than 1k a month with the CC.

I plan to terminate MBB 2 platinum and look for other easy to earn cb cc with widely accepted for EPP. Any recommendation?
*
Easy to earn CB... MBB 2 platinum which you happen to hold. I know amex acceptance is low. But as long as they accept, and you just have to wait until weekend, it's 5%cashback.

Telco bills, petrol, unifi can be paid by amex. Major supermarket, shopee, lazada, also accept amex.

Alternative, look into citi cashback or uob one, abit more criteria to fulfill

Lastly, affin duo.

Affin duo.

Citi cash back.

If your grocery + petrol very high can consider maybank visa signature. 5% cashback.

The conversion rate of points to airmiles matters alot in the airmiles game. There is alot of maths to do to find the right mix of things. I am not the expert nor do i have the spending power.

The general recommendation is maybank 2 premier cards for best conversion rate. But you go read then you know why i did not recommended. There is also maybank kris flyer amex card but the conversion is not as good.

I apply without considering card the actual benefit of the card. 1k is too good to give up. I only got rm600 when i applied hsbc 1 year ago

Hsbc VS has better points earning if you focus online and ewallet though

It'll be helpful if can get recommendation for new CCs. (For 2 people).

1. Annual Income: 80k to 90k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Free is good but lower spending or number of transactions condition to waive is also fine.

3. Card required for:

- 1st: online shopping (mostly) so cashback preferably on this. additional travel perks/lounges would be a +++

- 2nd: travel, lifestyle + dining, airmiles etc.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): PBB Quantum, SC Smart, CIMB Cash Rebate.

5. Interested in CC from: Any

6. Others: Other add-ons are just a +

1. Annual Income: -

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: -

3. Card required for: Dinning

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank Islamic MasterCard Ikhwan (For petrol)

5. Interested in CC from: -

6. Others: Wedding banquet estimated to cost around 30k+ , Im looking for 1 off best cashback CC to utilize this.
*
Usually for large sum like this, either points or low cc rebate or split payment. Example you can look into maybank barcelona, 1% rebate get back max rm50. Since restaurant sometimes ask for deposit.

Else the "easier" card will be hlb essential. Should fit your lump sum 30k.

hi guys..
I'm currently looking for options because I possibly want to "migrate" from Citi PremierMiles..
there is a possibility that I will fly more business trips in 2023 and one of my concerns is the Travel Insurance privilege provided by credit cards..
I know that in the past Citi PremierMiles had a "built-in" Travel Insurance privilege, but I'm unsure what's the status now after UOB acquired them..
additionally, last time I read through the PDS of my HSBC Visa Signature, it also doesn't have any Travel Insurance privilege.. hmm.gif

1. Annual Income: RM150,000+

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes / xx swipes

3. Card required for: Mainly travel stuff (flights, hotels, etc)

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Citi PremierMiles, HSBC Visa Signature

5. Interested in CC from: open to options

6. Others: Not interested in frequent flyer programs from Malaysia carriers (e.g. MH, Airasia), more interested towards Point Rewards than Cashback (but Cashback's still good)
*
If you travel often, get proper travel insurance. Any of the CC insurance not gonna be ok

If you dont want MH FFP, then apply maybank 2 premier. Can convert to SQ.

anyone knows why recently many banks are using mastercard for their credit card? Take for example Maybank2 Card used to be VISA but now is mastercard. Same goes to Citi and CIMB..visa no longer available but uses Mastercard.
*
For maybank, i believe the option has always been there if you want to request the other, i believe mine was mastercard but for some they get visa, based on my limited sampling of ppl i know.

I dont work banks, but i think whichever partnership works best for them, they will prefer to recommend visa/MC as default. Banks are not in it for charity but for profit maximising.

1. Annual Income: ~RM54k, unsure if got raise down the line

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes or waivable

3. Card required for: Petrol, Utilities (Unifi, TNB, Air Selangor etc), FnB, Online (steam, shopee, lazada etc) and Offline (grocery, electronics, gadgets etc, either one shot payment or in short term installment) retail, House fees (maintenence fee, relevant taxes etc), e wallet reload (TnG RM100-200 only, depending on transit frequency). Total monthly expenses average around RM1.5k‐3.5k

4. Existing credit cards (if any): None

5. Interested in CC from: MBB (Salary crediting), CIMB, RHB, Hong Leong (got bad experience by family), probably HSBC, OCBC (using 360-i account due to closest branch being islamic banking, majorly used it to earn bonus interest) and Public Bank

6. Others: Focused on cashback cards atm, would be open to reward cards if benefits good enough. Will be using them for Samsung Pay and Google Wallet (I know, no benefits doing so but that's how I'll be using it)

Lastly, as I've moved to new area, will they asked about the different address compared to ic address?
*
Maybank Amex Ikhwan Platinum --> online transaction

Maybank 2 card amex --> offline / online

Citibank cash back gold card / uob one (both same benefit)

Rhb shell visa

PB islamic visa platinum

Amex has its limitation but the cash rebate % is too high to ignore.

Address does not matter for CC application.

any compelling reason to upgrade to upper tier cards (VI, WM etc)? Just use the card for short term EPP 3-6 months.Considering to cancel my Bank Islam card
*
Usually (not a rule) comes with some perks like

1) lounge access at local and/or overseas airport
2) some travel insurance if travel expense is charged on the credit card
3) golf benefit
4) hotel dining discount.

These are the one i know. None of the above is a necessity. The travel insurance that is offered are not comprehensive. You should buy proper travel insurance yourself.

No loan is the key. Bank's perspective, no history = bad history. it may be easier if you start with the bank which you salary gets banked into but even that is just a theory we have on the forum here.

but yes, all those cards you mention are great for cashback
