no
i have a friend that studied business in a college at subang,
failing a few semesters..and decided to change course to study culinary.
after he graduated, he pursued a career in culinary...now he is working as a chef at a decent restaurant at singapore, he's happy and earning well.

i think it is not about looking down at any course people chose to study, its more of admiring those that really follow suit of what they studied.
cause majority end up stray away from whatever they initially studied.

nope. not at all. real culinary chefs are godsent. I know coz I can't even cook a good egg. Apatah lagi nak cook higher level dishes like curry. Don't even know how to cut chicken or fish... These people can give you a taste of life. You should appreciate them.

but like all professions, if you don' tput in the effort, you're shit regardless of the industry.

No, but there's a common misconception among the bankers, especially loan officers, saying that 9/10 Tukang Masaks have serious gambling issues, hence the lower chance of loan approval.

I'm not looking down on anyone who choose any type of career pursue. But the problem is, Asian society's mentality is like this, if you are not an engineer, lawyer, doctor or magistrate, then you are a disgrace to the family and to the country.

But TBH I'm an engineer and my cousin is a pastry chef. But his salary 7x bigger than me.

I also got friend who pursuing his passion in music after his family gave up on him since he failed in engineering course 3x at local public university. Seems that he already got invitation for recording company after his graduation.

The point is, be what you like, don't follow the system.

yessirrr.

Believe it or not. That's the truth.

But I'm just an engineer (without Ir). While he is a head pastry chef at the hotel. My cousin following his parent's footsteps, becoming a pastry chef since that's his passion for his life.

And I wouldn't worry about expensive cake for my upcoming wedding day coz I already got lobang for discount wedding cake haha.

bcoz you wanna satisfy them??
so that they don't laugh at you??

While it's true for most low-rate/normal chefs, those good ones will use otak and heart to create foods which were "more than just foods" for people.

Without them, we kenot pagi makan roti and petang makan babi yo.

Its hard work, its a lot of abuse, its back breaking but most importantly its a job that can only provide happiness.

you cant squander peoples money away, steal partners, and all sorts of shit people do as a chef.

its just food on the table

and i respect them for that

Without chefs, whoz gonna cook delicious kfc for u?

Seriously, chefs demand respect, since they might end up as the most self sufficient people thx to their cooking skills for survival.

Those fancy fine dining establishments however........thats a whole different story altogether.

I always argue back with my family

I say what makes u so good that u are a engineer, lawyer, doctor

Everyday come back home I see u stress face

Not even a manager position just kuli sit in office
Act as if the job is so good

If you are Mah Saleh Expatriate Chef maybe.

Local one even Executive Chef of 5 stars Hotel can't earn that figures.

Job that a Bangla & Indon can do how much you expect to be paid.

Well, the good thing about Chef is they can always open their own restaurant or a bakery house, even provide catering services, sell their own food product for their side business.

Engineer need to earn IR title to open a consultancy firm.
Same as Dr who, may need certain certificates and achievement to open their own clinic.
I dunno about lawyer but isnt that they also need to have some sort of licence then can open their own lawyer firm?

The general consensus thinks that these are physical backend type of work, in the service industry. Where starting fresh pay is relatively lower compared to other industries.

Afaik, it is a skilled job and need time to learn real world skills to climb up the ranks and higher pay. Those who reached the upper levels have the demand and fame.

It’s better that you follow your dreams than to abandon it and willfully choose to be a drone.

Only ignoramuses look down on knowledge. Moreover human civilization was built on this one simple premise - food.
