Just ported to Umobile from M. I have a question. My Umobile app Video-Onz showed data usage but I do not watch video from my phone.

A few days back I read here from a member who have the same problem but I'm unable to find it.

What setting do I have to set to correct it. Thanking you in advance.

Video onz inclusive whatsapp video?
*
I can't say for sure. I could be wrong.
I set my WhatsApp not to auto download photos and video. I set it to manual downloading to avoid duplication of videos and photos being downloaded.
To prove my suspicions, I checked the Video-Onz balance from UMobile app before and after downloading of the video. There is reduction of my Video-Onz data balance after downloading. This is how I concluded data is being used.
I spoke to the umobile CS they said playing games with the phone data on will use data from Video-Onz.

I'm new to umobile, even tho the speed tested is usually below 2 Mbps I'm surprised that I have no issue with music streaming and using waze. For these reasons I can live with it.
Umobile is same as Celcom, network may show 4G or LTE but the speed is slow but at least Umobile speed is above 1.5 Mbps.

actually all telco are the same if they are congested . u will facing low internet speed if the area is congested even u are beside with the tower.
*
Congestion is problem. I'm comparing with M and the area I always go to so far M is the best but I port bcos of their take or leave attitude. Maxis has less congestion in the places I go to but I just don't want Maxis anymore.

I heard some of my friends saying U-Mobile coverage is bad, even in KL area. Is that true?
*
At my place the coverage is ok, no LTE only 3G. I have been testing the speed to wherever I go. Some places are really good especially the town centre. Get a prepaid use it at the places you frequently go to. This is the only way you can get a true picture of the coverage and decide from there.

Hi Everyone,

Actually I am trying to look for an answer for the AppOnz, VideoOnz etc.

Tried to go through the U Mobile website but can't find any info.

I am using broadband plan MB68 with a MIFI. Which means I do not use the app straight from phone. This broadband is shared to my laptop and phone, do I still able to enjoy the Onz stuffs?

I also tried to Ask U Mobile in Facebook, they answer me can and send me the same webpage that I gone through.
*
Yes on your phone you have to switch off your phone data and then use the UMobile BB via wifi.

Hey, I am considering switching to UMobile, because of the cheaper plans. But I am wondering about how the coverage is? because I heard from some of my friend that UMobile coverage no good.
*
Like the sifus said, you just have to get a prepaid and test it at all places you usually go to. I'm a good example it suits me fine, so far all the places I go to have no issues yet. 🙏

hi guys,

i am thinking to port in to umobile. is the connection ok and stable in klang valley, like constant 4G?

anything i need to be concern about?
*
It is better to buy a prepaid and test it at the places you frequently go to. My place I only get 3G and slow most of the time but that is ok as I have BB. Other places that I go to Umobile have 4G and those with 3G is as fast as 4G. Other members here complained that the places they go are bad.

U mobile congestion really ah.... spotify also tak jalan on full bar 4G. Then I restrict my phone to 3G terus can play... student area really tak boleh guna one.
*
Same here, I don't use Umobile 4G anymore, I just set 3G and I have less trouble with spotify and waze, phone battery last longer too. Umobile if you have someone here in the forum, please report to your company the congestions we are facing. Seriously you need to work faster.

Maxis same thing my wife is the only one in the family still with Hotlink(365) their 3G also slow and unstable at my place. Change to 4G phone now very good.
My place, UMobile has no 4G, 3G is slow too most of the time I'll live with it as long as it's not Maxis.

UMobile is riding on maxis network
Suspect maxis has been "managing bandwidth" for uMobile users riding on their network for quite some time
*
UMobile only piggy back on Maxis 2G network not on Maxis 3 or 4G, that's what I read in the papers. Bcos of this reason I often get the same missed calls problems now, same as when I was with Maxis.

QUOTE(bryon @ Apr 7 2017, 02:33 AM)
Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd (Maxis) and U Mobile Sdn Bhd (U Mobile) have entered into a multi-billion ringgit agreement to share Maxis’ 3G radio access networks (RAN) with U Mobile. The agreement will be for an initial period of 10 years.
(From L to R– Mark Dioguardi, CTO Maxis Berhad, Sandip Das, CEO of Maxis Berhad,Dr.Kaizad Heerjee, CEO of U Mobile & Too Tian Jen, CTO, U Mobile.)

Basically, via the agreement, selected Maxis base station will start using U Mobile’s 3G frequency. This allows U Mobile to offer 3G coverage for voice and data to its customers via Maxis radio network. To make the network sharing possible, Maxis is using Multi-Operator Core Network MOCN for 3G/LTE which is standardized by 3GPP.

The network sharing will exclude urban market centers, such as Klang Valley, Penang, Johor Bahru and Ipoh, where U Mobile requires high bandwidth for high speed mobile broadband services.

The agreement also allows LTE sharing when the spectrum becomes available.

In a statement, Chief Executive Officer of Maxis, Sandip Das, said: “Active sharing results in greater cost savings which in turn translates to increased direct revenue for both companies.”

“As a strong advocate of network-sharing, this will add to our existing carbon footprint reduction initiatives. To date, over 54% of our base stations sites are shared with other operators. This partnership will also accelerate broadband penetration in the country, paving the way towards achieving Digital Malaysia aspirations.” he added.

CEO of U Mobile, Dr. Kaizad added that “This mutually beneficial partnership with Maxis will accelerate the expansion of our current 3G footprint to more than 4,000 3G sites in Malaysia by early-2013.”

According to both Telcos, the RAN partnership also responds to the Government’s call for telcos to reduce duplication of network assets, enabling operators to deliver better services. In addition, this pact promotes increased competition at the service level rather than at the infrastructure level.

As a result of the collaboration, Maxis will receive a significant new source of revenue and will enhance utilization of its network in areas that are currently underutilized.

The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Thanks for the info, I stand corrected. This make sense why the 3 & 4 G at my place is bad and 2G coverage is good but still get missed calls. Maxis' legacy. Thanks again.

I just stay with 3G wherever I go, less problem and taxing to phone battery. No issue with Spotify, Waze or Flipboard. UMobile 4G is just not ready. I guess my needs are simpler.

From my experience, UMobile 4G sucks, their infracture is simply bad. I'm only able to use their 3G network. Fortunately, the places I go around in Selangor is ok. Have u tried to use 3G instead? There are complaints that their 3G is equally bad.

If their 3G is also bad I think it is better to mnp otherwise you will be stressed all the time. Before u mnp get prepaids from other network to test.

These networks are slow to catch up with Maxis, as a result Maxis will not reduce their pricing. I'm a ex Maxis.

Nope. I always ensure I do not overutilized and also confirmed charges are FOC
Attached my bill breakdown

funny thing is, my wife's charges for last month (same U28) was also same as mine.
as i understand, i have requested no more mail billings since march, is it true that SR charges is the mail billing?
*
Last month UMobile has a billing issue, it did not charge 6% GST on all their customers. This month they included the error onto our bill. Could be the reason for your SR. They sent me a text regarding the error.
