I think u mean the favorite channels thingy...

Click

Home > preference > edit favorite > see list there...

Click whichever channel u subscribe.. Click okay

Then on remote control.. Just click the Fav button, each time to change channel...

The tech refresh rolling out this year includes cloud-based functionality that will link all devices, and ultra HD transmissions for the English Premier League and movies. Among other new functions, subscribers will be given the option to rewind linear channels.

By the end of this year, Astro plans to roll out “the box that can talk,” promising to embed Alexa-like functionality into its set-top box.

Here're my questions about the "changes" (the 4K channels and the new STB):
1. How much does it cost for the 4K service since the HD service costs RM 26.50 (7:09PM, 8th April 2018) and the 4K service may exceed RM 100? Is it worthy for just a few channels?

2. The alexa feature won't work without Internet connection.

I personally believe not every person who subscribes to Astro has the Internet connection or the stable one since the new one is using the Alexa-like feature.

3. Does the customer need to buy the new STB or get it along with a longer contract? I don't think the price of purchasing a new 4K STB is cheap and the extended contract may be longer than 5 years.

But it can be an interesting news to all the Astro subscribers.

1) The UHD service is not even available yet, so nobody got idea about the pricing and what are the UHD channels will they offer.
2) Very likely it requires Internet connection for interactive voice control feature like Alexa to work. Astro keep on encouraging users to upgrade to PVR box and connect to their home Internet (WiFi), so that users can not only access to On Demand library now, but also able to access to any potential smart services (e.g. voice control) in the future.
3) Yes. For sure the user have to upgrade their Astro boxes that supports UHD resolution. Current Astro boxes supports maximum Full HD resolution (correct me if I'm wrong). Contract are very likely and expected that it will be renewed, and I don't think it will be more than 24 months, considering that it is very likely need to pay some additional installation fees, or monthly service fees for this...

Maybe astro will sell for RM50 for one sports 4K channel.
Anyway, cost sure high. Wonder they will use H265 codec to 4K channel.

Other thing like rewind linear channel can only be done if that STB is watching through internet like IPTV. Seems this gonna be new product for Astro IPTV customer. But, to just launch this many new things will not be better. Good news EPL in 4K on astro soon.

Btw, Sports & Movie(censored) rejoice 4K coming soon. rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif
The good thing is just EPL in 4K. Don't think they can offer more 4K channel. Smart people will just dump astro. Astro is just for family & sports only. Other content they don't care.

Internet based smart feature will not utilise bcoz many use slowmyx. laugh.gif

Yes. As long Astro assign installer or technician to your premise, RM60 will be the service charge, regardless of big or small issue.

Yes.... i remembered, last time i changed my decoder it was FOC. I even told the CS i can pick up the decoder myself instead of paying RM60.....but they told me i have no choice but wait for the technician. If not for the world cup i would definitely terminate my astro account.

Local content (especially Malay) & Sport (including World Cup) is the reason why many still on astro...

If not, long time already terminated their services...
