As of now, Astro’s content consists of 30% of local content and 70% of international and sports contents. The group is targeting to shift the focus to more vernacular content to achieve a more balance combination of 50% of local content and 50% of international and sports contents.

P/S: Expect more home-cooked Astro channels and programmes in the near future.

Hope they wont bombard their 'peks' with too much inhouse channels.
But hey, at least their inhouse dramas are good, but not as good as the foreign ones. Despite they have fairly good budget to whip out averagely good shows.

So true..
Astro is good for their local content only..
Many Malaysia especially Malays love their programs..  The drama & shows. Really get hooked with them...

As for movies... I think stream online better... Because astro too much censored... Not best for paying high price to watch parts of the movie only 😕😴

Definitely true.
1. Astro should up their local game again. They already come up with averagely good Malay dramas and has enough room for Malay in-house channels. No need for more, that's waste of space.

2. Most (legal) online streaming services costs 1/3 of Astro's Movie Pack's price and has less edits than Astro. Though, if you want a really 'unspoiled' experience like India's Hotstar (also a legal VOD service), just pirate it. brows.gif

People, question about the latest Astro decoder. Does it have SD video out or have they removed this and left only HDMI?
*
The latest one has only HDMI, though you can use a converter if you want to convert to just SD.
Not being picky but, yeah.

2. India Hotstar?? Never heard before hmm.gif all Indian language or got English content too?? I though they also like Malaysia.. Too much censorship .
*
Yep, Hotstar has english contents alongside Indian ones. Some are even available uncensored (or, 'Unspoiled' as they would call it) with premium subscription.
Mostly from Star India's english channels. Though you need India VPN and Indian credit card to access it, unfortunately.

The HD quality is using SD version to convert to HD.
Now planning for UHD?  shakehead.gif

Guessing again will force us upgrade to decoder UVR (Not PVR)..
And then will tell you just add on UHD version additional RM26.50..
Then will become HD RM26.50 + UHD RM26.50..

IF in the future got 3D version, then might be another RM26.50..
Really smart.... thumbup.gif
Meanwhile in Indonesia, 4K is almost way ahead of its time.
First Media for instance, has added Love Nature 4K on its lineup.
I'm glad Asthrow is catching up with parts of the Nusantara too.
(As long as it's affordable, since 4K TVs are getting more and more affordable to the middle markets.)
