Dont be surprise astro might taken down HBO channel due to overwhelming complain this "mental problem" customer.

Last time one of my Brunei customer (subscribe Brunei under "Kristal Astro") more worst.

Straight away "Black screen" few second, and then pop out continue movies content.

That is really pity those Bruneian ppl illegal bring astro Malaysia account to Brunei to watch slightly "not so serious" of censored program.

In fact in Brunei Kristal astro account, it is more worst double censored at Malaysia plus Brunei filter again.

FYI, MTV Asia is not in proper 16:9 feed in Astro GO app. Meanwhile, Disney Channel, Junior & XD in proper 16:9 feed...

Edit: Disney Channel & Junior have some little black bars@left & right screen. Same like Animax(if you view in 21:9). Why not full?

Astro GO picture seem to have problem. Got big pixelated screen, when you start watching fast scene.

Wah. Is that the reason why HBO channel on Astro is being localised to Malaysia feed due to HBO not allowing pay TV providers (Astro) to modify its content, including censoring, delaying, slot in ads on HBO channels?

But then think again, HBO channel on Astro is not delayed by any means. Yeah, no 3 min, 5 min, 10 min, or 1 hour delay kind of bulls**t like most of other channels, and do you ever see Astro slot in their own ads on HBO channel? I think this is the policy set by HBO themselves. So it could mean that, if you (Astro) want the content to be censored or modify by any means, only HBO themselves can modify/censor the content, not from Astro's side, and that depends on what kind of agreement they have between them.

I'm not sure, I am just assuming, based on the reply by one of the complaint as attached screenshot.

If I would guess, the only next move that HBO will do is, not airing the movie "Allied" on HBO (Malaysia feed) anymore, meanwhile the Asia feed one will continue airing (maybe), if viewers in other countries did not complain the same thing as "some of" Malaysians do. Cuz I don't think HBO will suka suka censor the movie for the sake of those people who is so insensitive to those kind of content. HBO got their own reputation to be taken care of.

Those channels are exclusive on Astro Go/Njoi Now platform only.

Both MTV Asia and Animax on Astro is not transmitting in actual 16:9 video. It is still actually in 4:3 video, but without letterbox. So when you watch on your HDTV, it will look like it is in proper shape.
But on Astro Go, you will see that it is in 4:3 shape, so you need to change the video size/aspect ratio options manually.

From what I heard from a fren from HBO, HBO Malaysia SD / HD is a dedicated feed with all versions of movies edited to Malaysia standards, hence there is no delay what so ever or ad insertions. For this particular incident, it could be a wrong insertion on HBO part or the scene was not edited out by mistake.
