You don't need to be HNWI to buy wholesale fund. Just accept the agreement by FSM despite not fulfilling the criteria and you are good to go.  rclxms.gif
First eUT promo usually requires one to buy min RM5k. Not many can one shot dump RM5k into eUT. If one can furfilled that, eUT should be the choice but again don't go chase SC promo. Chase "market" promo  biggrin.gif
rclxms.gif  + 100%
Second, some people here think eUT interface is like kiddie. Not professional enough although I don't know what does interface got to do with one's money.  rolleyes.gif
for me, it just shows that the mgmt. are not serious for improvement for higher standard of customer interfaces/satisfaction..
Personally, I am waiting for my returns to hit their target, then I will withdraw all. Transfer over to my SG platform. As of few months back (nov), I have already stop topping up.
thumbsup.gif  just beware of the currencies risks.....on funds returns and fund repatriations.

The portfolio for my main account is increasing in value about RM300 to RM400 per day. Obviously this is not sustainable in the long run because of reversion to mean. Otherwise it will add up to a passive income of about RM10k per month or RM120k per annum.
................
*
my portfolio increased abt 3% this month...
so I assume your too....

my portfolio lost 8% in Jan/Feb 2016...
so I assume your too

if this month I made 12K
in Jan 2016 I lost abt 30k

so what we gonna do now?
RUN? or stay to bruce.gif ?

I have only 20 years to go. thanks for the link but it is on Singapore. Malaysia we also have 0% rsp? It is similar to my plan but will be good if we have like the link mention.
*
wow,....20 yrs then it is for your child....
read the tips and the points of the articles...not just the words....

if 20 yrs, may I suggest that you don't go for FI funds
instead go into EQ for the 13 years,
then if situations allows at that time go "balanced" funds for another 4 years,
then if the situation allows again, go into full FI for another 2 years
then for into FD for the last 1 yr.
(if the situation don't allow,...maintain at that stage)

you need to set the accumulation, maintaining and preservation stages....to try maximise the money....
20 yrs is just too long to go for preservation stage....
just my 2 sen.

Stay YK Looi. And keep our portfolio diversified. Also to keep a lot of spare ammo to top up when the market correct itself.

What else can we do since we can't tell what Mr Market will do tomorrow? sad.gif
*
rclxms.gif me too....I will stay, for I got no where to go blush.gif

for in the ends, the markets always goes up.....

I was actually hinting to some readers, don't just be too happy of our gains, the heart aching, sleepless worries faces of losses are seldom show or reported.
we just got to be prepared and do like you used to mention,....invest with spare cash that are not needed to be touched for a long time.

400k portfolio. You're in 40s too like vanguard?
*
No, it is not 400k
No, it is not like Vanguard's

i placed the word "IF" (in front of made 12k) and I just wanted to state the relativity of it....

Up don't be too happy, Down don't be too sad...just take note of our emotional feelings in those situations and have the wisdoms to rectify/correct it to the right path.....by reassessing the need to rebalance, the need to switch funds, the need to realign the allocation to suit our longer term "feel" better emotions and psychological need.

Ya I also think that 20 year is too long for preservation stage but I don't want to take high risk with education money. I try to be conservative cos if I lose it when my child needs it I won't forgive myself. So try to balance gain and risk. Very dilemma here. If put equity and it drop I still have time to counter react?
*
yes....you will still hv time to recover for I had set 7 yrs time frame....for recovery of a diversified eq portfolio....then you still hv balanced potfolio for another few yrs...before going to FI and then FD.

3.75% IRR is looking at just the fund performance, or taking into account the initial sales charges as well?

Also what's the portfolio hat gives you such a low IRR?
*
QUOTE(opticc @ Jan 29 2017, 03:32 PM)
ylooi 's portfolio, my estimte he invested 3.85 years so far.
his IRR according to him now average 3.75% pa.

what portfolio, you ask mr looi him. ask him howlong he invested see my calculaition more than 3 years true or not.

may be yu can share your portfolio . your average return xx%.
*
my portfolio is now 44 months = 3.66 years
my portfolio changed more frequent than the wind directions.....from heavy in M'sia, to heavy in FI, to thematic (following 6 mths trend) to investing based on past performance (abt 3 yrs historical performance), to heavy in small caps funds that try to push up the IRR to now abt just right I think. (I believes would still be evolving).....

there is no point of trying to imitate or analyse the portfolio of others...for it may not be suitable to others, the gains or losses from that portfolio are past history which may not repeat, the time of entry may not be the same, the method of entry are not the same, the allocation or amount of each entry may not be the same...the timing and amount of fund rebalancing and switching between FI and EQ or CMF is not the same, and etc, etc.

btw, I think an annualised error of 0.5% would become a ROI of abt 7% variance in 10 yrs.

tqq 44 months is about there > 3yrs near 4 yrs.

my estimate of irr +/-0.5% is overall after total period, not yearly error 0.5% sure after 10 yrs totally far out.
i dont undersatand how u got your annulised error so high.

for nonfinance background use simple IRR = ROI/year invested, you can rely this simple way,
to know roughly your portolio achieve target
*
if you are still sticking to the below argument it will be error....
even though I am non finance background I don't use the "simple IRR = ROI/year invested, for I cannot rely on this simple way",

I am using that excel formula from Google

QUOTE(opticc @ Jan 29 2017, 09:39 AM)
irr=roi/year.

3.75=14.45/3.85years wrong????
*
read post# 2383
to clear some confusion or add in another bigger confusion

just found this on google

Annualized returns take into account the effect of compounding. Let me give you an example.

Mr Tan invests $1000 and he gets an annualized return of 10% a year.

End of Yr 1: $1000 * 110% = $1100
End of Yr 2: $1100 * 110% = $1210
End of Yr 3: $1210 * 110% = $1331

The fund has returned $331 over the 3 years, or in absolute terms, he earned 33.1% of his original amount.

But we do not simply divide 33.1% over 3 years. Those are not annualized returns. The annualized return as we stated earlier on, was 10%.

If you are still not sure about what annualized returns mean, please let FSM CIS know!

Do share your portfolio if you don't mind, curious to see the composition. I assume it is heavily weighted to Asian equities.

Also is this ROI based on IRR or just end/start calculation? Did you top up in between the one year period?

Btw congrats! 10% a year is very solid.
*
was from Jan till Oct 2016....this composition.
Roi based on that month since investment

Next time I shall show mine regardless of its colours.

By the way, for the PolarBearz Calculator, I can't seem to update fund price.  I already enabled Macro.  It's stated there ActiveX error?  I am using Excel on MacBook.  Anyone managed to get this worked on a Mac?
*
QUOTE(hong823 @ Feb 4 2017, 06:39 PM)
I also had the same issue, PolarBearz calculator showing ActiveX error when updating fund price. The only thing I could do is to update each latest fund price manually.  rclxub.gif

Not sure if this a mac problem.  doh.gif
*
while waiting for value added assistance....
I attached a file....it is in Excel Windows
not sure if it can be used for MAC

instead of manually updating individual NAVs, I am using this file to auto update my portfolio NAVs from FSM...
just key in the parameter, press CTL+U to update,
then copy and PASTE (Value) into your portfolio excel file

try it ??

Thanks for the offer to help......
btw, "idyllrain" was the macro code creator of that file that i attached earlier....
if he can managed to do a MAC macro without a MAC in hand....that would be great.

QUOTE(MUM @ Feb 6 2017, 05:46 PM)
Last year, Asian REITs ended the year on a joyful note as investors around the globe were on the hunt for yields under a low interest rate environment.
Moving into 2017, however, concerns are pouring in for REITs investors as the US economy continues to deliver positive data that are fueling the possibilities of a faster than expected rate hike.

Are Asian REITs Still Attractive?
