The eUT promotion is always 0% SC for amount > 5k. One can use it for switching funds and invest new funds. And they have it as long as one month duration, you can use it without making rush decisions.

Compare this to the FSM 1 day promotion which invites so many funny funny questions such as what time lar and which day lar and so on so forth !

But not all funds are under promotion. TA funds and CIMB funds ( except Ponzi 2 ) are usually not under promo in eUT. So buy these in FSM.

Bond funds also there is difference. Bond funds are 1% SC for eUT ( non-promo rates ). Whereas for FSM is 0% + 0.05% platform fees per quarter. So better keep bond funds in FSM, it will take a long while before it reaches the 1% SC.

FSM has this credit points and a long time investor will some how accumulate some credit points where he will find it useful.

I will keep the more aggressive port in eUT and I could switch the port just over night without paying a single cent during promotion. That could work as double edge sword, which I have to constantly remind myself not to make rush decision.  blush.gif But so far my port in eUT performs much better than those in FSM. Maybe due to different funds nature.

I read previous post mention eut not very stable. If masuk transaction 5k suddenly 404 panic lo

Because Japan counted as develoved country while asia pacific = developing market. Japan economy is a bit weird.

Japan just invest in anime and manga will get high return liao.

I read a Robert kiyosaki book mention mutual fund is scam and we will get double our return if invest in same stock due to the fees and charges in mutual fund. Invest in index fund is better than mutual fund. Any thoughts on this?

would suggest everyone to wait till end of January to beginning of February to see how to market moves with the new POTUS

two scenarios.

1) he makes good on his promises, more capital flow into USA. Dow and us stock exchange surges. Japan follows suit. Malaysia vomits blood. china gets hit with a trade war. inflation increases rapidly in the US. more fed hike.

buy more into us funds. buy more into cheap Asian funds.

2) he breaks his promises. loss of jobs increases. capital flows back to Asian markets.

buy more into Asian markets. reap what you have gain from us funds since election day. (profit skimming)

see what I did there?
*
Ya I saw lol. No matter what the outcome the action is still continue to buy. And no fear cos the fund is diversified. Not depending on specific market.

look at guy123 portfolio that is more than 3 years old. he literally ignored all the white noise and just invests in the race winning horses.

currently I am avoiding malaysia for unit trusts and soaking my feet in its market via dividend paying  stocks
*
Which 1 is dividend paying stock? Maybank? Nestle? I'm thinking to invest in that too. How much return can get?

you may be speaking truth but some of the funds that brought down the irr were commodity funds. the rest like kapchai, KGF, Ponzi 2.0, GTF were all giving him double digit returns.

Total profit of 60k out of 240k plus cost. that's outstanding.
*
240k investment he must be quite rich from his income. Dunno how long until retire only I able to invest that much.

I don't do any day trading so I apply what I learnt from unit trust into stock trading.

anyways here's my watch list.

classic scenic. (wooden frame exports to America) dividend yield 6%
gunung capital (hydroelectric dams and military transport) no dividend
sunreit (relatively new and "cheap" per lot) dividend yield 3 to 4 percent.
tenaga (well have you heard of any companies doing electric supply)
gadang (solar plant in sabah and housing)

do note that there is a minimum charge of 8myr at every transaction, on top of stamp and GST and etc.

on average each transaction will cost you 0.25%. that is why it is advisable to conduct lump sum of 8k to maximize your returns but most people don't have 8k, the bare minimum threshold would be 3k if you want to buy in.

I shall stop talking on this topic as a sign of respect to my colleagues in this thread. Head to stock sub forum.

good day to you.

Volatility can be taken advatntage with dollar cost average. When volatile drop U gain more when buy compare up up up where U don't gain much buying regularly.

RSP means auto deduction from money market fund every 15th of the month. If you are new customer by going for RSP, your SC is 1% for 6 months. After that it's back to 2%.
*
New customer means just register or new to buy the fund? How to deduct from money market? I need buy another fund?

QUOTE(xuzen @ Jan 15 2017, 04:39 PM)
Friends and fellow participants of Unit Trust Funds,

1) Today is Sunday, 15th of January 2017 afternoon and after taking a refreshing afternoon nap, my mind in now fresh to write something that I have been thinking on for a while.

2) This topic came about when some of you earlier was talking about volatility and return. We know that for the same degree of return, a unit trust fund that gives a higher volatility is worse for the final future value than another with lower volatility.

3) Now, let us take a look at the first column of a imaginary fund with a return of 10% per compounding period, or perhaps we can take that as per annual return. It starts off with MYR 1,000.00 as initial capital with no top up. Let's say this is a fixed income fund and we get a fixed return of 10% per annum with no volatility, meaning every year is the same ROI. In another word, this fund offers zero volatility / variance / standard deviation / risk.

4) The second and third column is similar an imaginary fund with increasing volatilty as we move towards the right. If you look at the final future value after the tenth year, the fund with the highest volatility has the lowest future value. This phenomenon is called variance drag. This is why, as illustrated, volatilty is bad for a fund and low volatilty is good. This is applicable to buy and hold style of investing or those who do DCA method of investing. Howeverm if you are those trader / speculator / dump and run type, then volatility is your friend and variance drag is of no concern to these type of investors.

Xuzen

P/s For the three imaginary unit trust fund, the simple average return are the same for each fund. The difference in final future value is due to how great the flucuation of the yearly ROI. The greater the flucuation, the lower the final future value.

Thanks for the insight. However I think that using dca method volAtility will also help instead of up up up

Guys,

I need your help over here and it's nothing regarding FSM.

Decided to ask you guys since I've been activve on this thread for the pst few months.

So I have a cousin that just sent me a text saying that he saw a thread created by my account on Lowyat.net and I'm pretty positive that I did not create any threads or whatsoever.

Is there anyway that I could check the recent activity list under this account ?

Or any help desk that I could contact ?

Really hoping that I'm not hacked for some misleading reasons lol.
