Cool but people should stop saying that FD < inflation. FD is only < inflation is you aren't really smart.

That's the fact. Look at your normal nasi lemak.

That's why I said.. if you are smart, your nasi lemak is really cheap smile.gif really tired of people complaining FD < inflation when they mean FD < can't live like a king tongue.gif
*
Bro, you don't get what I meant. sweat.gif Look at how much your nasi lemak cost now and then. Can the amount it increase match the return by FD?

Look at normal kuih. Now one piece RM0.80 from about RM0.50. Petrol price keep going up = price of things keep going up. After they go up, do you think it will drop?

Why do you think I moved from promo FD > ASX FP > to UT?
Cause FD returns cannot keep up your normal everyday price increaee which never drop.

I am not smart wor.....I want my latte and chinnoes every breakie, lunch & supper. I want it to be serve in fine china too. Not some cheapo polystyrene foam cup. I need to look good all the time!  cool2.gif

Agreed.

HNWI spotted. notworthy.gif rclxs0.gif
Well what to do. If want to live that life, need to take risk.

For me, I just want to outrun the increase of price in Malaysia + still got extra money left over.

Do not believe official no. Count yourself how much your nasi lemak, your nomal kuih increase. That's the inflation number. That's what your return must return.

Guys for all those who rightly say that the Affinity Hwang Asia Ex Japan Quantum Fund is overexposed to Malaysia...have a look at this: https://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/fundi...number=MYFTASCM

Similar idea, chasing small caps, but very well diversified all across Asia. It's actually caught my eye and I've never come across it before.
*
Look at the min amount. RM10k. I am perfectly fine with RM10k in HY bonds but small caps? I will pass. Well it's your choice. icon_rolleyes.gif
If it's RM1k, I won't mind buying.

Oh didn't see that. I must wait a few years lah like that. But I love the idea of Asian small caps.
*
You are forgetting that this fund also charges you 0.2% platform fees on top of SC. So on months where where it's red, you will lose additional money compare to normal bond platform fees.

QUOTE(Avangelice @ Feb 8 2017, 05:51 PM)
actually are HNW funds better at performing than the regular funds?

i mean if I have 100k would it be better to break it up into a portfolio rather than lump sum into one particular fund?

sad that I'm born poor. I have to start building my assets from the ground up.
*
Not necessary. Take eg United Asian HY Bond Fund. In Malaysia you are suppose to be a sophiscated investor/HNWI. However, one can just buy the same fund from SG side without being a sophisticated investor/HNWI at SGD1k. In malaysia, you need min RM10k which is crap.

Since you seem to understand their strategy, do you know if this counts as a hedge fund? I always read that hedge funds on average underperform due to their high costs but the stated returns on the one FSM is promoting is very tempting and I keep asking myself what is the catch.

Also, I feel very silly about buying big into a new fund just after announcing here that I think there might be a big crisis this year and that I'm divesting some investments. Then again, I suppose that if anyone can properly take advantage of a crisis, it would be a hedge fund.
*
Hedge fund is like unit trust. However they are not UT. However both are expensive compare to ETFs. Malaysia does not have hedge fund unless you're HNWI then maybe banks will offer it to you.
