QUOTE(TSOM @ Jun 6 2018, 10:47 AM) do you need to present the physical cert for redemption or can redeem online?? Good question but i forgot to ask anybody else have experience with affin bank? earlier before this i tried to withdraw my FD from a different branch but the counter girl told me cannot, have to go back original branch. After i complained to the manager then he helped me settle on the same day.

QUOTE(Cookie101 @ Jun 6 2018, 12:24 PM) They are doing the same practice like pbb- that’s why I’ve stopped dealing with them. They only allow inter branch withdrawal if amount is below 20k. Otherwise it’s a no. Rentas is always the preferable method. If you walk in with large amount of cheque from different bank, they will question about it but using Rentas, no questions asked. Isn’t it better to terminate than rollover another one month at board rate? Or they have given better than board rate. Keep us posted. Good to know next year how I’m gonna deal with them. Their cheque is in multiples of 30k which is rather redundant and end up whole stacks. You can reserve cash up to 500k for withdrawal from my last meet up with the bm. Ah i see. It's really stupid. I'm currently based in east malaysia and my old FD in Muar. Takkan have to purposely fly over and drive 2 hours just to withdraw my FD But their rates gooding so no choice la

QUOTE(BrookLes @ Nov 30 2022, 05:30 PM) i mean with rising interest rates it's best to put max at 6 months cause the deals will be better over the next year and you will be locked at old rates

QUOTE(BrookLes @ Dec 2 2022, 03:44 PM) I just do not think it will go much more then 4.5% it will. USA is still increasing interest rates albeit no more 0.75 basis as hinted by Fed. Most likely it will be 0.5 going forward but it is still increasing until inflation goes down. BNM has no choice but to follow as well.

QUOTE(BrookLes @ Dec 2 2022, 04:10 PM) You are right that it will go up. But I seriously doubt it will be above the original rates before the pandemic. why not take a look and see approach and just deposit 6 or 12 months. 18 months is really too long for FD lock in. just my 2 cents

QUOTE(Cookie101 @ Dec 2 2022, 04:32 PM) Why not look at it this way: any extra month left waiting is a loss. At 4.5, that’s 0.375 per month. Unless next incoming rate >5, it doesn’t seem to be deal breaker. you can always put the spare cash in a monthly FD while waiting. or other money market funds which doesn not lock you down.
