That is why I really do not understand this fresh fund thingy. I mean forcing the people to purposely do a transfer to another bank and then transfer back to the original bank just too do FD is plain stupidity in my opinion.

Me too. Really inconvenient.

It doesn't matter if no interest is paid for premature withdrawal.
As long as you get your principal back, that's all that counts.

If you're not doing for the interest, what's the point of doing it at the first place? hmm.gif

What I mean is that, if someone needs to withdraw it prematurely, its either for an emergency or to put it in alternative investment with better returns. If the interest is forfeited, then it doesn't matter in the greater scheme of things as long as you get your principal back.

Of course, putting funds in an FD is to gain interest but at the same time yr capital is guaranteed,
but sometimes on occasion you will need those funds back for specific reasons.

You need to read  my posts 10275 and 10281 carefully. Last year the banks already gave notices to FD depositors about the changes in conditions and ask to adjust their FD if T&C too much.

Yes I’m aware of that.
If there is a large amt to save in FDs, its better to split into several small receipts rather than one large one.
I kena before on a single large FD and gotta cancel due to medical emergency, so moving fwd, I’ll do the split.

A few questions I have for this Bank Islam FD promo,
1) as a new customer, do I need to open a savings acct ?
2) will the interest be credited monthly or one shot at the
maturity of the FD ?
3) will BI issue the FD cert on the same day of opening acct or only upon clearance of the banker’s cheque ?

There is always a risk, albeit a small one. I wouldn't mind putting a single FD for amount of more than 250K with the larger banks i.e. MBB, PBB, RHB
