QUOTE(Xaser_3 @ Nov 26 2019, 08:05 AM) IMHO it's not. The effective rate is only 2.98-3% only and plus you will need to maintain a 1:1 ratio. QUOTE(David_Yang @ Nov 26 2019, 08:49 AM) Yeah, only interesting if you want to invest in this ASN products anyway. The sales charges of 4 and 5 % are ridiculous, so at least you can halve it. QUOTE(Xaser_3 @ Nov 26 2019, 09:25 AM) Yes, the sales charge aka commission is a big turn off. Initially investing with this product would already cause a loss to begin with. QUOTE(Jamespcr19 @ Nov 26 2019, 10:40 AM) I was about to sign up for this bundle as well last month, but after going through the T&Cs with their representative, I feel that it's not that worth it, as they require you to pump in a significant amount to both FD and savings account, and you can't spend the fresh funds you included in your savings account. I think it's best if you head over to the counter and discuss with them face to face. QUOTE(cactus112 @ Nov 26 2019, 11:59 AM) I think not really worth. Their sales charge is expensive and so far the VP fund performance is soso.... Hmm, assuming I were to put in 100k fd and 100k asn for at least 12months, wouldn't the combined returns be higher than FD promos in general? Unless I'm unaware on how asn mechanics work.I was told that there would be 4% transaction charge. But November has double dividend which will offset the charge(?, told by RM). When do they charge the commission or sales charge? Is it on initial investment like a one time thing only or every dividend payout/withdrawal? And is the dividend not 4.5%-6%? Thank you all for the replies btw. |

Meeting with my RM tomorrow for new FD placement. What do you guys think is the minimum acceptable rate as compared to available promo options on the market right now? The loanstreet website hasn't been updated since 9th Dec.

QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Jan 2 2020, 02:18 AM) I am just an old retired person who tries to understand by comparing different possible FD calculations and explanations from bank staff. I am just one of those people who move from bank to bank looking for the best possible returns without getting fooled by the banks. My task is to generate sufficient returns to look after financing the medical and care payments of infirmed parents. The detailed and continuously refined explanations/surveys of FD developments helps me to plan for possible future scenarios. The explanations hopes to encourage people to get better rates by comparing good deals against bad deals. The knowledge here is not merely a free sharing gift but a form of financial education in real world situations/experiences/lessons so that my children will one day be able to achieve better on the foundation of understanding the nitty gritty when it is time for them to take over the burden. QUOTE(bmwcaddy @ Jan 6 2020, 05:38 PM) For 12 months, Highly suggest taking the trouble in creating an account for promo rates if you're putting in large amounts. And remember that the amount earned compounds. I usually put in huge amounts so for example, even at 200k, the difference between 3.1% and 3.9% is already 1.6k.Affin now 3.9% BSN now 3.45% Maybank 3.10% For Affin and BSN, i have never opened any accounts with them, not sure about their efficiency/customer service in KL branches. Im leaning towards Maybank (though drastically lower rate), can straight apply through savings account e-FD (which i already got m2u savings). Any tips? |

QUOTE(cherriesberries @ Jan 9 2020, 07:20 PM) Went to CIMB, was told that CIMB preferred FD 3.9% for 6 months Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm certain that CIMB's 3.9% will yield higher returns compared to Alliance's 4% with 10k minimum in casa...?Went to Affin, the bank staff said they no longer have 3.9% for 12 months. They have only bundles, all below 3.8%. Went to Alliance and placed 6 Months Fixed Deposit - 4% p.a, 10k minimum in casa, no earmark but cannot withdraw, can only withdraw upon maturity. Bank staff said pure FD 4% for 12 months no longer available (ended on 31 December 2019). |

QUOTE(cherriesberries @ Jan 10 2020, 11:44 AM) The CIMB 3.9% is only for preferred. Correct me if I am wrong, Alliance's 4% with 10k minimum in casa has no capping on fd amount, I think if you place more than 500k then you can get effective rate >3.9%. For example, 500000 x 3.9%=19500, 490000 x 4%=19600, 10k in casa, a very minor difference though. |

Hi guys, I plan to combine some of my matured FDs and pool into 1 FD account at Bank Rakyat. May I know how important is PIDM?
Is it still advisable to separate the funds into different FDs at different banks to ensure it is PIDM protected? Or it doesn't really matter at all? Reason to pool together in BR is for convenience as I have to withdraw and transfer 4 different FDs at 4 different banks. So if I pool together, I only need to uplift one combined FD, and enjoy the highest rate available. Please advise, thank you. |

Phew, I guess it's safer to just put in the extra effort to separate all the deposits in different banks for PIDM then. Thanks! yklooi liked this post

Seems like a lot of new faces here. I wonder what happened to the guy who usually compiles all the best deals at that period of time in a post regularly.

Hi guys, just want to clarify on a number of things.
Person A and B are joint account holders. Person A and C are also joint account holders of another account. If RM250k is deposited for A and B's account, it is covered under PIDM. If ANOTHER RM250k is deposited for A and C's account, will this still be covered under PIDM? Both deposits are in the same bank. |

Just made a placement for 4.5% for 18 months at AmBank together with signature priority registration. Was told that interest will be credited every 6 months into the savings account.
