amount: 5000
placement date: 14 Apr
maturity date: 14 Jun
tenure: 61 days
rate: 3.15% p.a.

interst: 5000 x 3.15% x 61 / 365 = 26.32
*
bank FD calculation does not include both placement & maturity dates ?
take example above may i know why is it 61 days and not 62 days ?

am i missing something, shouldn't it be 17+31+14 = 62 days

EDIT: Nvm found out the answer already. lol

HOW TO COUNT AND COMPUTE NUMBER OF INTEREST BEARING DAYS (IBD) FOR FD

For the case mentioned, just count the number of midnites between 14 April and 14 June (not counting midnite at the end of day for 14 June, or start of 14 April). We are not counting the dates. We count the midnites from the day you place to day you take out. Somewhat like adding up the interest for each savings EODB (End of Day Balance - but with the balance fixed)

If have spreadsheet, just Maturity Date - Effective Date cells.

Thanks I found out already and called the bank to clarify already, yes i have my spreadsheet but have not deposit any FD less than a year (till recently) so got momentarily confuse.

haiz... nearest maturing FD is 15-18 June, thought to try MBSB but doubt will get anything remotely near the 4.48% let alone the 4.52%

wondering now will affin revise their 4.4% board rate. will call them tmr.

Mind sharing the branches ? pm me is fine too thanks.
the one i went before Affin kemuning is as slow as you can imagine, even slower than slow king BI

QUOTE(okuribito @ Jul 4 2019, 03:21 PM)
The branch i go to only has 2 staff attending to customer transactions & this is a double shoplot "big" branch - uneffingbelievable huh? I noticed that for new FD customer, one staff will tend to the filling in of forms etc & after that is done, the customer has to go to the other staff to make the deposit. Seriously  doh.gif
*
had this too when I did FD & renew at BI, much different compared to Ambank or RHB where everything is computerize and streamline.
I have one Ambank maturing next week and affin interests me, hope it wont be that slow on that day.

This is islamic FD and you went to affin islamic hence the RM1000 into CASA condition. If i am not mistaken someone mentioned if you were to go to a mixed branch, there is no the RM 1000 condition.

did FD at Affin 4.23% @15mths this morning both bank side by side yet have to spend RM2.65 for bank cheque from Ambank.

Mixed branch yet staff insist have to put RM1k in SA (earmark 3 months) & must be Islamic SA
made noise to BM, gave green light no need 1k and I choose conventional BSA with online banking.

Eg my case, I was told starting in June or July Bank Negara has advised banks to follow strictly the rule that Islamic products' return must be credited to an Islamic saving account. Thus I was required to open a new Islamic saving account for this 4.23% promotion and cannot use conventional saving account. Strangely Affin will charge 10 ringgit for joint name saving account.

*
I have not heard of this till now, it's a pretty stupid rule ... though no difference (maybe minute difference) I prefer conventional SA. My previous islamic FD at ambank has no problem going into conventional SA.

I do agree though the staff & Seniors all insist hard have to go islamic SA, hence why i see the BM.
I gave reasons 'other affin branch & other banks accept without any problems, why yours can't ?'.

When I need to use this USDs later, I will transfer a required amt out again.

But I read there are problems when transferring-in,... and then how abt when needing to send out again later ? Any experiences here please ?

Is SSPN's interest rate 4% not as attractive? Not pure FD?
*
in short not FD.

I apply the KISS principle for FD, also not good to put all eggs in a basket.
that said I apply/divide certain amount to FD, funds, shares, etc ....

On this matter, do you or does anyone know any thread exist in lowyat on discussion about
foreign currency FD in foreign country ? (in that country's POV would be local currency in local FD)
