Does anybody which bank is the best bank to do mutual funds? Some say Maybank and some says Public Mutual
*
only if you don't mind paying the 5~6% sales charges if you buy from them

I will be quick since this is a FD thread.
buying thru Maybank may gives you more choices in terms of fund houses
buying thru Public mutual may limits you to Public mutual fund house.

check out the numerous unit trust investment thread in LYN

Yesterday went to MBSB to withdraw FD. Rentas out some fund and remain some for FD. Initially thought they won't allow it. Their T n C said need to top up 10% for the PrimeWin CASA and FD promo.

But their system really SLOW. The ways things were done really slow. hmm.gif From doing RENTAS, open the PrimeWin SA to getting the FD cert, took more than 1.5 hrs (include waiting time for my turn) ! RENTAS charge RM5 to MBB. Got new passbook for the PrimeWin SA.

Consolation is their staff ultra friendly. Procedural wise need to improve......

This morning checked online, can see the new FD inside. But unable to see the PrimeWin SA. Is it need to manually link it to online account or have to ask Affin staff to link it or have to wait for >24 hrs for it to show up in online account ? hmm.gif

You got a new passbook for PrimeWin SA. Let me guess. Different acc number?
You are already an account holder before. Do you have a debit card before this?
Nowadays for most banks, for you to access online, it must be tied to a debit/atm card.
The Primewin promotion states that you will be given a debit card.
I think you better call up the bank branch to enquire.

I am not worried about the SA account not shown online yet. The amount is printed on the new SA passbook. Already have debit card for earlier normal SA.

Anyway the PrimeWin SA amount supposed to tie in with the FD tenure.

Ambank is "by 3pm"
PBB is "within 2 hours"

Hi sifus, request help and experience.. not sure how to advise my relative

today i heard from my relative that she went to collect an fd she put in at say 4.5% rate for 12 months.. however, the bank teller couldn't find the certificate number.. then finally found that the cert number changed because the bank officer withdrew the original fd a few days later and put it into a new fd account (at say 4%) due to wrong bank rate at the time.. the officer even said they called my relative at the time but no one picked up..

Is it legal for a bank officer to withdraw money on behalf of a customer without the customer present, and change the fd rate to the supposedly "correct rate" at the time?

What actions can be taken to complain?

Also, would like to warn all FD OTC users to not think the money you deposit FD is safe.

Bank officers have the power to withdraw your money without you present. Maybe digital banking is the way forward

What grass are you smoking?

If you are holding an FD certificate, only YOU, the owner can withdraw by presenting this cert. Not only that, your fingerprint and signature must tally, then you and only YOU can withdraw.

If you do not have the cert with you, then you are at their mercy.
