Yeah the party is finished. In 6 months we will be down to 2.5 board rate. I will continue to exchange into SGD with every FD maturing. 1.9 % in SGD is the better choice than 3.5 or 2.5 in MYR. For me, raising the minimum wage (which I appreciate) and reducing the interest rate is a toxic cocktail.

*
Sorry, off topic a bit. Probably, there is a post or two at most regarding this matter.

David_Yang, after converting MYR into SGD, how do you obtain 1.9% of interest rate? Do you save your SGD money in fixed deposit in a bank in Singapore?

Kindly tell us the name of Singapore Bank, and the name of the banking product which you use.

Thank you for your information. smile.gif

Good guess by @TheRant, it is CIMB in Singapore. Just the FD promo.

Maybank is indeed the other option, but I don´t have account with them.

Hi, may I know can we open the said account with CIMB in Malaysia or have to go to Spore to open one ?

I have heard from someone, some foreign currency FD account (in Msia), when mature, the P + I will be payback to us in MYR, is it true ?

Thank you for your advise first. smile.gif

The CIMB one must have an SG account first or be in SG. There is a thread in the forums on how to open an SG account with Maybank from Malaysia.

Forex FD question mostly true as most banks locally don't offer multi-currency current/saving accounts unlike SG.

Alright, this is my last post regarding this matter, so that this fixed deposit thread does not go off topic any further.

Many of us have either CIMB Singapore FastSaver Savings Account, and/or Maybank Singapore iSavvy Savings Account, even though we did not travel to Singapore for account opening. Plus, we re not working in Singapore at all.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1440794/

Please look at the thread of Opening a Bank Account in Singapore, and post your questions in that thread instead.

It is not encouraged to open a foreign currency fixed deposit account, in Malaysian bank. Refer to https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/512136

So the info I was given is wrong? I didn't pursue further as I was only there for other banking purposes.

As mentioned this was the info that was given to me, just sharing in case anyone is interested.

No, the info given to you is not wrong at all. It's good that you posted a comprehensive breakdown for the CASA FD bundle. I sincerely prefer pure FD compared to to this. Thank you and have a great weekend.

Hi,

I plan to place my money with MBSB PrimeValue Campaign 5.5%. Since I don't have any MBSB account, can I open Primewin CASA-i and IBFT money to the new Primewin CASA-i on the spot instead of bringing banker cheque?

You don't want to lose 2 days' interest? Smart.
I think you can. The account you opened should be active immediately. I stand corrected.
But for you to access your acc online, you will be told to wait 24hrs then register your new debit card.

I indeed needed to go to Singapore one time, but everything was prepared by my local Preferred RM who assigned me already another CIMB RM in Singapore.

The local foreign currency FD account is more or less useless, fees to pay, exchange rate unhappiness and all SG promotions not available.

You can immediately transfer money into the account no problem.

But the problem is not all banks can do immediate transfer to MBSB. So far i know CIMB definitely cannot immediate transfer.
Maybank and Public Bank yes.
