Hi sifus, i see alot of good rates (4%++) being mentioned here from branch bank but I couldn't find any from official website. Do you go bargain with the bank counter/ service of the branch?

Assuming I have RM 40,000 for FD, should i try to bargain with the branch bank or just search for promotions available from official website?
*
you need at least 100k to bargain

CIMB Wisma Genting, rate 4.2% for 1 year.
They didn't specify the minimum amount, seems like they are quite flexible.
I was told min is 4.15% and max is 4.2%. As shared by many they need to obtain HQ approval.
This rate ends this Friday. Please ask branch directly for best rate
*
that's a good rate. Thanks for sharing rclxms.gif

Banks' official websites usually will mention their normal board rates, but not necessarily all their various products.
Banks can bear the cost of producing and showing large or long running promos for general public in newspaper and website, but may have some cost benefit and updating problems when dealing with short running, not too attractive promos or niche promos. So it is understandable not to have some promos not shown in banks official website.
Usually I just go to an area with a lot of banks, and take a stroll around and ask the receptionists or counter staff what FD promos and brochures they have. I normally try to avoid telephone enquiry, websites and talking to customer service people.
Normally 40k is not enough for bargain with banks.

Actually one forummer mentioned this on 6/3. I took the offer last week. Has shown the cert here last week as well.

It seems CIMB is having short term FD promo, like this week it was said 4.2% 12 mth. I just hope next week I can get the same 4.2% rate. biggrin.gif

I assume u are CIMB's Preferred customer. Have to see if the 0.2% is worth the interest lost since FD last placed.

Is this for over the counter or for online?
When does the promotion ends?
Do you need to open a savings/current account?

The CIMB looks like really competing in getting FD money with the attractive FD promo ! rclxms.gif

The CIMB seminar really long, 9am to 1.30pm (as compared to Citigold dinner event) with refreshment and lunch throw in E&O Hotel. No, the RM did not try to sell me that MBB one. biggrin.gif

Just received HL SMS on FD promo. It only stated 6 mth 4% for their Priority Banking, min 10k. Maybe the 4.05% is for bigger amount. Anyway I am looking at CIMB offer now.

Hi Sifus, may I know the effective rate for affinbank fd promo ? lets say the 6 month 3.78% and 18 months 4.1%? Since now my 10k is parked at CIMB eFD conventional rate, if I take out and top up a bit can I request for 4.1% ? I saw someone mention 4.0% if not fresh fund. Which is better ? affin or cimb ? thanks
