Or you can cancel the card after registration for online banking. But you cannot change phone number after that otherwise need to get another debit card as the changes can only be initiated via atm.

I think amb, cimb, you need the atm card for internet banking, at least this was what they told me. Unless you cancel the debit card? You still need to pay for the first 8 ringgit unless they waive it for you?

I went to OCBC for FD deposit. The admin says OCBC has no Internet or E-FD. Is it true?

Also, there is a charge of rm8 per year for saving account. Is there any option to get the rm8 wave? Eg, hsbc will waive adin fee if account holder has rm40k (loan, fd, etc) with hsbc.

Hoping to get advice. Thanks

OCBC has internet banking.
After log in, at top right side, you can select "Open an Account"
Under the first top section " Fixed Deposit", select "Place New Deposit".
At this time, you can place eFD at Board Rates for the tenors shown ranging from 2.9% to 3.35%.
There is at present no promo eFD (some years ago there was a special promo eFD for 4.5% - but no longer valid).
You cannot use the eFD method for the current offered OTC promo FD which is at a higher rate.

For savings account, there is an ATM Debit Card. Registrattion Fee (one-time fee) is RM 8.
Annual Fee is RM 8 p.a. There is no fee waiving for having average balance above certain balance as practiced by some other banks.

An alternative is to get a Credit Card which can be with or without Annual Fee from a list of Credit Cards available. Please check how this works out.

No- didn’t pay. That’s correct - You need the card for online banking.

During account opening, opt for bsa without fee. So didn’t pay for any. Then subsequently cancelled them as holding too many cards that are not being used is rather pointless.

Without is the one with limited withdrawal and back then for transfers are chargeable at 1.06 etc.

The one with fee is unlimited withdrawals and cheaper fees for transfer.

Alternative option is apply for credit card from that bank. No cards required and otp is registered according to cc.

anyone knows if CIMB 4.4% 1 year FD still on this month? I went to a branch and they said ended in Dec but some of you managed to get it in Jan. They only gave me 4.3%.

When I called last week, they said 4.4% for 6 months only.

Today I clarified with CIMB. Even 4.35% was until before CNY. Yesterday's official notice from HQ is giving 4.3% for 12 months.

And so I placed some today (Friday Feb 8) and the maturity date is Feb 10 2020 (Monday). I don't know if interest/profit is calculated for the 2 weekend days or not. But for sure, I won't be "penalized" for a weekend.
